oh i'm so sorry. maybe you can ask neighbors to keep an eye out if they see him? and idk if houses there have like, an underneath, like on porches, but if they do he could be hiding under one? or you could leave out food? other cats could come for that tho so idk but. i don't think he really should be that far, as far as i'm aware cats really don't stray too far, if they're indoor cats.

and getting up that early will probably only make you more stressed. maybe pick a time frame you know him to be active in and then search at that time? i honestly don't know if that would help or not, but being super tired all the time won't help. i really hope you find him. <3

the funny thing is one of my neighbors is also missing their cat so maybe pablo and her are hiding out together. there’s not really anything he could go underneath in the compound. at least not a building. but i did just notice that in the compound next door which is only half-built and fenced off for construction, there’s like this temporary structure thing that he could possibly be underneath. but like... some of the construction guys live there i’m pretty sure so i need my dad for help if i’m gonna look there. he usually sleeps all day so that’s really unfortunate. we’re gonna keep looking but. it’s been more than a week. idk. i don’t know if i should even get my hopes up.

so here’s how it went down

the night of jan. 2nd my dad accidentally left some windows open

the morning of the third we heard angry cat fight sounds outside, but neither i nor my mom knew there was a possibility of one of our cats being outside

our fat boy is fine and inside. it’s the wimpy scared boy with bad eyesight and possible early arthritis in his leg that’s gone, of course

we live in a 6-house compound with a wall around it, and each individual house also has a wall around it. in this compound lives: 3 stray girls that we previous got spayed and released, a sometimes-pet long hair boy who currently lives in our bathroom because he’s injured and the owners suck, a long hair girl who sometimes escapes her own home and then goes back, and an Evil Boy stray who isn’t neutered, roams around this area and others, and most likely kicked long hair boy’s ass

probably also kicked my cat’s ass

every day since then i’ve been up in the wee hours of the morning looking for my cat. first night my mom and i walked and then drove around looking, along with his brother who we put in a box, knowing he would complain loudly and hoping that would draw him out. we got every other cat in the compound coming to check things out but not him

yesterday morning i went out with our cat trap (requires human attendance, unfortunately) and put some food under, hoping to get the Evil Man so that we could get him fixed and/or drop him off somewhere far away from my house so that he won’t be a barrrier to my cat

this morning i’m up at 4 and just kinda sitting here because idk what to do and i feel like i’m so tired i’m not thinking rationally. i guess i should put the trap back out but Evil Man doesn’t live here, he just comes sometimes. i didn’t see him at all yesterday

what am i supposed to do at this point? how much do i have to do before i’ve ‘done enough’? i can’t get up at 3-4 am every day probably, and there’s only so far from my house i’m willing to go when it’s dark and i’m by myself. i put out his litter, i put out some of my own worn clothing, he always has access to the house through the same window he left from (the door to that room now stays closed). the websites say a house cat will stay close to home but there are so many other cats here for him to be afraid of including at least one that absolutely will kick his ass and a few more that might, given the opportunity. i can’t just catch them all and hold them until he comes back. there are a million places he could hide within the compound and a million more outside it. idk what to do

does anyone in the new york, new jersey, pennsylvania area have scottish folds kittens for free? i’m currently embarking in a new scary chapter of my life, moving into an apartment alone for the very first time, and i’ve been dreaming for years to have a scottish fold. and i’ve always wanted my own kitten. and with all these uncertainties in my life, this is the one thing i’m sure of. and the one thing i know will make me happy. so if anyone has scottish fold kittens, please let me know!!
