“Kojiro said I should do this.” Langa told Reki as they headed home from school. It had recently rained, so the pavement was a little too wet to skate on, hence the walking. Oh well, sometimes it was nice to take in the scenery. Langa stopped walking and got down on one knee, wet pavement be damned.
“Reki...” He wore an extremely serious expression, as if what he was about to say might change his life forever which it would, for the record. From his pocket, he produced a strawberry ring pop. “Will you marry me?” Langa stared at Reki for a moment before laughing as he stood up. He tossed the candy to Reki, unsure if ring pops were even sold in Japan or if the secret stash of Canadian candy in his bedside table was their only supplier. “Kidding.”
Obviously Langa was joking, they were only seventeen. Kojiro had just been joking around with him too. Sure, marrying your best friend worked out for some people (like Kaoru and Kojiro) but it was different between Reki and him. Langa didn’t have romantic feelings for his best friend, they were just extremely close which is why his heart sped up with Reki smiled, and his palms got sweaty when they stood next to each other, and his knees felt weak when Reki whispered his name as they snuck out of his bedroom window to go to S. Just normal bros being bros stuff.
