"already, someone almost spilled their drink on me." with the fact that her costume was custom made, that was the last thing she wanted, or needed tonight. "having fun though yet?"

once upon a time, they were friends. close friends. that was the past though. they weren't friends anymore. nor were they even on friendly terms. for the most part, she had done her best to avoid running into sloane. but that luck seemed to run out as she came back from being outside. she knew running into her was inevitable. "well look what the cat dragged in."

a yawn escaping her lips, faye stared at her laptop screen. a paper due tomorrow, and she had only two paragraphs typed out. most of the time, this would have been done a lot sooner. but with family in town, it kept getting pushed off until today of all days. waking up this early was a choice. one she regretted now more than anything. hearing someone speak, was she imagining things? maybe she was. maybe she wasn't. she wasn't used to being seen by anyone. looking up, she raised an eyebrow as she saw someone standing there, . "hmm? what were you saying?"

the lantern was already loud by the time wren pushed through the front door, the warmth and noise a welcome change from twelve hours of hospital lights and call bells. freshly changed and running entirely on caffeine and determination, she scanned the room before spotting a familiar face. a grin immediately tugged at her lips. "there you are." sliding into the empty seat across from them, wren dropped her bag beside her chair and let out an exaggerated sigh. "i left the hospital twenty minutes ago and i'm pretty sure part of my soul is still there." Blue eyes flicked toward the nearest bartender. "now tell me you've already started drinking because that whole 'i need it like i need air' text sounded alarmingly serious."

✦ ・ " i need a coffee. " she muttered to herself mostly. she'd been focused on a sketch for her class and could feel the way that her eyes felt heavy from the feeling of being exhausted. " do you want to join me at the quad coffeehouse? " she asked the person seated next to her. " my treat. "

✦ ・ it wasn't unusual for someone to be waiting for one of the hockey team members outside of the locker room. yet for some reason as he stepped out of the now empty locker room he jumped at the sight of someone there. " jesus don't scare someone like that. " he claimed dramatically while clutching his chest. " are you waiting for someone? i'm pretty sure everyone else already left. "

✦ ・ the quad coffeehouse had been somewhere that kitty had always enjoyed studying. though at times the cafe could often be crowded leaving no where for her to actually sit. that was the case that afternoon. with her books in one arm, her bag hanging off of her shoulder, and the largest cup of iced coffee she could have ordered in her hand she'd been searching for an open chair. finally spotting the other with an open seat at their table. " is that chair open? "

after grabbing her cereal, wren made her way over to sloane with an amused smile. "okay, i need to know," she started, settling into the seat nearby, "what does your cereal choice say about you as a person? because i'm not convinced mine is painting me in the best light."
