“I’m not a Goof Up!.” Max denied whole heartedly glaring at his uncle as if he had just insulted the teen in the most horrible way possible. Big Pete stared down at his nephew with a look of ‘oh really?.’ That’s basically what it said and it only made the dog more irritated with the large cat.
“Really?, you do see the faces that my customers are making at you?.”
Max slightly hunched where he stood hesitantly looking over his shoulder to see some customers trying to help each other off the puddle of Coffee the young Goof managed to spill all over the floor, others had their food poured on top of their heads, trying their best to clean themselves off.
But aside from that they were all looking at Max, all sharing the same look on their faces. A Familiar look that Max has seen directed towards his own father, a look he probably did as well when his father would embarrass him.
It was anger and irritation. The pup didn’t like those looks.
“Like Father Like Son.” The cat said in a plain tone. Catching Max attention.
Max looked back at him with a mean glare.
“Of all my time working here, I never messed up and now that I do. The ONE time that I do, I'm suddenly a goof up!?.” Max accused glaring at his uncle.
“Watch your tone with me boy.” Pete warned glaring down at the teen.
Max huffed, unbelievable. Pete never seemed to have a cool down button.
The dog shook his head.
Unbelievable, just unbelievable.
“Your father really didn’t discipline you enough, speaking out of turn when you don’t have the right.”
Max continued to glare at him.
“Then again your father did always mess up anything he touched.” Pete spoke as he rubbed his chin as if he was thinking.
Max balled his hands into fist at his sides.
His dad didn’t mess up everything he touched— of course he could be embarrassing at Times— maybe annoying— very clumsy— BUT! it was all out of good nature. His dad never meant bad by it.
Goofy never got easily mad like Pete does with PJ at times, his dad was nicer— much more nicer and honestly Max is still surprised till this day that his father is friends with Pete— and as much as Max loves his Uncle Donald— he’s surprised that he’s friends with him as well.
His father may be embarrassing and an endangerment to himself— he was a good guy and always meant well.
Sometimes— sometimes Max knows he doesn’t deserve his dad, his dad that didn’t abandon him when his mother did— his dad who took care of him when he was only 19 graduating high school— who went to college but dropped out in his 2nd year due to Max. His father who tried to do his best to give Max a good life— his dad that loved him no matter what even when Max would treat him like shit and would rage at him like he was a horrible person.
“At least I don’t fear my Dad like how PJ fears you.” He grumbled under his breath.
“What was that?.”
“Nothing.”
“That’s what I thought, now go clean up that mess boy and make sure it’s spotless. This is coming out of your paycheck.” Pete shoved a bucket of soapy water and a mop into Max’s hand pushing him towards the dining hall.
Captain Hook [And other related characters] Headcanons
1. He [along with all the other Toons in Peter Pan] was created in 1949, four years before Peter Pan was released. That means he’s now about 72/73. Anyone who think he’s lost his sharp edge in those years however is gravely mistaken.
2. Hook initially seems like one of the weakest villains when you put him next to others like Malificent and Jafar as he doesn’t have any magical powers. What he does have however is a hook which he has no problem using and a mathematically-inclined brain. After his film he was approached by Pete Cat to join the rest of the villains. At that point it was Pete, Grimheilde and Lady Tremain as the main three players. Hook slotted in effortlessly, although there was quite a lot of debate about whether or not Smee would be allowed to be present at the get-togethers as he wasn’t a main villain. Hook made it quite clear that although Smee was a ‘complete and utter imbecile’ he was HIS complete and utter imbecile and therefore Smee would stay or else Pete would feel the sharp edge of his hook. Smee stayed.
3. Hook’s emotions go all over the place on any day. One day he’s calm and level-headed, the next day he’s unable to make a cup of tea without Smee’s assistance. Smee after many many years has come to recognise these moods and can navigate them effortlessly, but for everyone else they’re always a bit on edge as to if Hook’s going to be polite and considerate [for a villain] or awkward and difficult.
4. Hook’s was created with his hook and therefore has never known life without it. He feels it’s a core piece of his identity as a villain and gets very defensive if anyone should dare insinuate it doesn’t make him as great as, say, Maleficent or Jafar. He has many many hooks that he can interchange to help him accompany different tasks. [Some of these are shown on ‘Jake And The Never-Land Pirates.’] He has a plunger, a feather, a mechanical whirly-hand that Hook can use to fly [this was specifically designed for him by Professor Ludwig as Hook got sick of not being able to fly like Peter Pan and the fairies.] a knife [In theory this is just to help him be able to cook, but sometimes he likes swopping it for the hook and scaring the hell out of everyone with that instead.] and many others. Including a torch which gets quite a lot of use. In the show [JATNLP] he has these on a cabinet, but off-screen he just carries them round in his hammerspace because he never knows when he might need them.
Hei so this is an ask that doesn't have anything to do with the LT, but the disney villains actually. I was wondering, how are they off camera. Because, in their movies they are, well, villainous, duh. But you said at one point that villains had to take some classes in the sixties or seventies, so that they won't act so evil anymore. So, now how are they really? Are they bad towards everyone and downright unlikable? Did their evilness tone down in time? And what's their relationship with the heroes and princesses? Do they still hate each other? They tolerate each other? Or they actually get along? Sorry if it feels like I've bombarded you with questions. I just basically want to know all your head canons about them.
Right. So here we go. First of all I'll give an idea of the villains group in general. Then I'll do 5 villains for how they are off-camera, because if I do them all we'll be here all day.
So yeah, in the late 60/s/early 70's -not sure if I've given a specific year already - Doctor Scratchensniff had the idea to 'encourage' the Disney villains to take classes in how to not act like villains. It's fair to say there was some resistance to this idea. What's the point of being a villain if you can't act like one?
The classes were more geared up to Toons who had just finished a Movie/Tv Show with the idea being that with the help of these classes they wouldn't just automatically hate each other any more. The classes were actually a success - on the whole - but some of the older generation of villains [like Evil Queen and Maleficent] thought the entire idea was ridiculous. On the whole though the were accepted, and the villains like Evil Queen and Maleficent don't stand there with petitions or signs or anything [they wouldn't demean themselves.] they just make there disapproval KNOWN.
As for if they're bad towards everyone and downright unlikeable, that very much depends on the toon. As a whole the villains are 'card-carrying' I.E. they like everyone to know they are villains, have no issue threatening people to get what they want, but much prefer not to actually have to use there powers if they can help it. This particularly applies to the magic-users among them, as on the whole the stance on magic is that if you have powers, that's fine but you're expected to not use them to harm others. The Toon Police do crack down quite heavily on magic-users just because there powers can be so great and dangerous it's worth keeping an eye on. The magic-users debate this of course, and it's on e of the few points of genuine debate in Toontown.
Magic-users aside there are some villains who are horrible and who no one wants around [King Richard the third from Robin Hood being one such example on account of his whining, selfishness and downright unpleasantness.] There are some - usually the more higher-profile villains like Hades for instance, who you KNOW are villains, they don't hide it, but they can be so charming and...yes occasionally...nice to you, you can actually forget. Then they electrocute/try to poison the postman for no reason other than he was annoying them and you're like. 'Oh YES, they ARE villains..."
There evilness does tend to tone down after about a decade. It comes with age. Well. I say it tones down. What usually happens is they either get more cunning - I.E. better at hiding the fact they're up to something, sometimes give up evil completely [especially if there movie didn't do very well or they weren't very evil to begin with]. Occasionally they can get WORSE though, as in the case of the aforementioned King Richard.
It's been noted that villains like Pete, Maleficent and co tend to stay around the same level of evilness. They're so well known they can't give it up completely [and don't really want to], and they've got enough brains and wit about them that they can come up with new and improved ways of being evil without having to do a lot themselves. [more on that later.]
Next up, relationship with the hero's and princesses. Again, it's a very individual thing, but as a general rule at first the villains/hero's are at each other throats in there own way for about the first decade. [Evil Queen tried to get poisoned apples into EVERYTHING Snow White went near, to the extent Prince Florian acted as a taster for his wife, eating some of her food first so that he could warn her if it had apples into it.] As they grow up a bit they usually either come to a mutual understanding or sometimes a truce completely. [Like Maleficent and Aurora, who get on pretty well now. It should be noted that it was Aurora who had to take the initiative and talk to Maleficent, but it did work out. Eventually.] A lot of the time though they simply dislike each other, like Jafar and Aladdin. [Although they have been known to work together, should the stakes demand it.]
So now we'll do four characters at different levels and from different times and what they're like off set. Hope you enjoy.
Pete - Head of the villains, even above Maleficent. The oldest villain out there and proud of it. Yes, if you see his stuff now you would think he'd softened a bit, and you'd be right, but he still knows the tricks of the villains trade and can be still very tough when it's needed. His original peg-leg has now been replaced with a artificial limb that looks exactly like his fur/skin.
Oddly he can be quite protective of his villains, and will leap to there defence should they be accused of things they didn't do. [Which is quite frequently.] On the other hand if they're being accused of something and the reason is because they were stupid enough to leave a sign or mess it up somehow, he will crack down on them. He's a bit like a mentor to them.
He does actually love his family as well, and is protective of them. A very good way to get on his bad side is to threaten them.
He also gets on very well with Mickey. It's a friendship that's developed over many many years. They understand each other and get along well.
Maleficent - As queen of the villains [not literally] she is the one who all the others look up to and want to impress. Most of the male toons have at least a crush on her and a good portion of the females do to. She - however - has shown no interest in anyone over the many decades of her existence. [Her romance with Hades in House Of Mouse was an act]
She excludes authority wherever she goes and has the ability to terrify anyone with just a glance. She quite enjoys this.
Although she distances herself from the other villains, she does count a few of them as close friends. Grimhilde [Evil Queen], Jafar and Ursula. Grimhilde was her mentor. [The villains mentor each other for the first couple of years.] Jafar [She recognised the similarities and his intelligence and decided it would be better to have him alongside her than against her. She thinks of him as something of a younger family member] Ursula, Maleficent mentored and developed a friendship with her.
Jafar - He's a little like Maleficent, except maybe SLIGHTLY more impressive in that he's manged to build up a terrifying reputation over a shorter amount of time. [As of the end of 2021, I headcanon he's 35] Like Maleficent he enjoys his reputation as well and is capable of striking fear into any toon heart with just a glance.
He's quite charming and can actually - weirdly - be quite friendly and polite when he wants to be, but if you cross him then Zeus help you. He's quite good friends with Hades s they have a similar outlook and a similar sense of humour.
Ursula -Quite the business women. She still runs her little 'soul-exchanging' business which, unfortunately, does get customers. Aside from 'bartering' for souls she also doubles as 'contract-reader', reading over contracts people either have or want to make to make sure they make sense. [She charges the public for this service, but gives a discount to her fellow villains, if only in the interest of being able to do future schemes with them. She waves the charge complete for Maleficent, Grimhilde, Jafar + Hades]
