Pete Devlin; Singer/songwriter
Texas Moon
Honky Tonk Dance Music
Small world…a child in Wiltshire, England listened to Armed Forces Radio airing out of Germany grew up and eventually moved to South Texas.
Pete Devlin a.k.a. English Pete listened to Hank Williams, Lefty Frizell, Jimmy Rogers and fueled with musical inspiration he formed a skiffle band with some school mates. They played the local cinema on Saturday mornings between serial thrillers.
"I don’t think we had any idea about what we were singing," Devlin said. "Songs like Pick a Bale of Cotton, Cumberland Gap and The Wreck of the Old ’97… how would we? We’re from a countryside in England better known for Stonehenge, crop circles and pre-historic burial mounds."
But still the influence of American music, specifically Country Western, never left Devlin. He traveled the world, worked at various vocations but the music never left him. Songwriters such as Billy Joe Shaver, Jerry Jeff Walker, Guy Clarke, Townes Van Zant and Steve Earl further influenced his musical bent. To this day he writes and performs his own music. He is a voice for Texas with an English accent.
The release of his newest studio effort, Nashville Ain’t No Fun, is due to release Summer 2012. Devlin and Texas Moon are available for hire.
