The U.K. Moves to Ban Social Media for Under-16s and AI Companions for Under-18s
The United Kingdom is preparing to enact sweeping legislation that bans social media access for children under the age of 16 and strictly prohibits artificial intelligence “romantic companion” chatbots for users under 18. So I was watching bbc news this afternoon and they did a huge pro online safety act news piece that hammered in the "Children are being exposed to sick filth and we need even stronger controls to protect them, the OSA doesn't go far enough!"
Even pseudoscience bollocks like "Pornbrain" and other crap that got cited as well as "Porn gives people dangerous ideas about how to treat women" which I'm not going into, there are problems with the porn industry I agree but there was also some bad second wave ideas being thrown around too as science.
I can not even begin to express how hard this is going to be to fight back against because they can use the "think of the children" defense if you are against the OSA and accuse you of supporting the idea of wanting to expose kids to porn.
Another finding I noticed from the BBC pro OSA piece was talks about ministers wanting to gear up to crack down on VPNs to "Protect the children". so expect that to be something they want to expand upon in the near future because they believe children are using VPNs to watch porn now.
I know why Labour are dying on the sword of the online safety act and it's because Starmer watched adolescence with his family one night and the TV show spooked him.
That's it, it's because he saw a TV show about incels one time.
