     “I know we haven’t talked in a while, Miles, but I appreciate you crawling out of whatever hole you were in on such short notice to help us,” Peter stood with his hands on his hips, fingers tapping anxiously. To be quite honest, the guardians were short on time, but this weapon, Peter knew, could help them more than maybe anything else would in their attempt to defeat the mad titan, Thanos. “How’s space treatin’ you these days?”

  “If you were all for stealing things, you wouldn’t be complain’.” Peter smirked, ducking out from his hiding place for just a moment so he could blast a few baddies with his guns. Rolling back behind his rock, Quill squinted so he could see the map Miles was gesturing at. “We just have to keep going straight until that weird giant circle thing and then take a left and run down a hallway. We’re gunna be fine, you’re not losing your head. At least, not if you were wearing one of these.” Peter stuck out his tongue as he hit the activation for his mask, running out from cover at the same moment to draw fire away from Miles, who was the brains of the operation, ironically enough not wearing something to protect said brain.

“Oh, really, you’re fine?” Peter scoffed and uncrossed his arms, moving closer to Miles, even when the other refused to meet his eyes. Gentle fingertips brushed across the scrapes, nicks, and bruises littering Miles’ soft features. “Look--I, I know whatever this is is casual, but you can’t just disappear for a week without a word. I was worried about you! Clearly, properly placed, I’d say, looking at your face. I was terrified that you’d d--” Peter refused to finish his sentence, and instead turned and moved to dig through Miles’ bag. “This was what you got beat up for?”
