WHOOP

SANDPOINT WAY > 12TH AVE NE by 45th (U-DISTRICT) - Moonfaced girl is back. Still super quiet.

56th & Brooklyn (Roosevelt) > Lower Queen Ann QFC- Fellow with a skateboard heading out to greet the sunny weather. Looks like he walked out of the MENS FASHION Pinterest board.

63rd Ave NW & 53rd Street > Greenwood Mudbay Pet store- Stoner buddies heading to work. They're happy. REALLY HAPPY. They do not like crepes.

GREENWOOD (near Red Mill Burgers) > PARAGON (QUEEN ANNE) - What I can only describe as Sorority Sisters having way too much fun way too early in the day. They're headed out to get unlimited mimosas. There's 5 of them. The smallest is squished out of sight of my rearview mirror. There was a snapchat. I think I'm smiling.

A block up from KONA KITCHEN > BITTER LAKE- more Indonesians. Why so many Indonesians?

HYATT PLACE DOWNTOWN by WA 99 > Rhein House (CAP HILL) - very nice Indian Couple heading out for dinner. Their 2nd winter in Seattle and loving the weather.

SILVER CLOUD HOTEL (BROADWAY) > 12th & Mercer (CAP HILL) - Woman taking her Oakland CA family around town. Flowers are really expensive in California ($13 for 3 tulips?!). They can't believe folks are wearing miniskirts in this weather.

13th Ave & E Harrison (CAP HILL)  > DUCK ISLAND ALE HOUSE (Phinney Ridge) - Mulato girl headin out to beer and unlimited free pinball.

EASTLAKE (Lenny's HOUSE) > WEST SEATTLE (Across from Lincoln PARK)- my friend Lenny helping me test out a theory about using the LYFT app. Ate dumplings and moved furniture all day. Going drinking and hockey, all night.

West Seattle (near West SEATTLE Bridge) > BALLARD Peddle Saloon - A realtor and her friend are heading out to relax. They get talking about her friend's marital problems the husband. She's super forgiving; he has serious anger management issues. I tell her I hope things get better as they both head off to Peddle Saloon the night away.

Restauracja Meksykanska W Seattle (FREMONT) > 65th St & 15th Ave (BALLARD) - law student heading home from doing a double shift on a wedding banquet boat restaurant. Is ready to party hard at a themed party tonight.

BALLARD > RUMBA (CAP HILL) - Mila Kunis & Channing Tatum are having a conversation about botched Irish Coffees and the meaning of yawning. Yawning when someone else yawns is a sign of empathy. If someone is lacking in empathy, they grow up to be sociopaths. I start yawning.

CAP HILL > WASABI (BELLTOWN) - MILA KUNIS 2 from Spokane & Ashton Kutcher from Tacoma are heading out. We talk local talk, meaning we complain about high rises and raising rents. Lively couple.

WESTERN AVE & VINE ST > JULIA's on BROADWAY - Nice fellow heading to the drag show.  It happens every week, Friday & Saturday, and also has a Sunday Brunch.

CAP HILL > TOWN HALL on 8th Ave - Quiet couple. Seem nice enough until they leave, where the man is too lazy to get off the seat and ends up dragging the seat cover off.  Have to log out for a minute to recover the back seats.  Move one.

Kindred Hospital Seattle First Hill > Benaroya Hall - 2 Chinese girls heading to the concert at Benaroya.  The LYFT app is acting up and putting my pick up point several blocks away from where they are.  Call them and promptly pick them up.

Westin Seattle > Stateside by the Ltd Art Gallery - 20 something gal pals heading out.

Lakeview Blvd E > Swedish Medical Center Emergency Room - was heading to U-district when the request came in.  As my passenger entered the LYFT, he starts to groan about pain.  Apparently he thinks he broke a rib while landing a snowboarding jump.  He didn't feel any pain at first, but suspected he landed too hard in the flat area past the jumps landing.  He then did the same jump 10 more times.  Super friendly Indian fellow.

SUMMIT & MERCER (CAP HILL) > Medina Hookah Lounge (I.D.) - As I pull up to do my pick up, I think I hit the brakes too hard.  I and my passenger hear this squealing coming from my front tire. WHAT IS THAT SOUND?! As we hit the freeway, and hit top speed, the squealing goes away.  It doesn't squeal like that ever again.  He's heading to a Hookah Lounge.  We start talking about a Virgin Hookah/Vape idea.  Might be a good market for that.

Winona off WA 99 (PHINNEY RIDGE) > Bridge Way (Fremont) - Fiery redhead scares the crap out of me by knocking on my window.  She's hanging out with friends for her birthday, to start watching more Doctor Who.  She has the same problem I have in that I don't like to bandwagon.  If something becomes popular, I almost always stay away from it.  Maybe it’s the lowest common denominator, or I'm just a contrarian.

FREMONT > REGAL MERIDIAN (DOWNTOWN) - A Theater employee from GUILD 45th and his Boeing Gift Shop girlfriend are heading out to see THE LAZARUS EFFECT.  This clearly does not jive with my plans to get away from the CAP HILL ferry rushing. Nice couple, the man looks like Vincent Shiavelli.  

I head to Kona for Coffee and Musubis.  Nancy and the Tidwells show up, and I wish I could stay but there's money to be had with LYFT price matching my hours.

 SKADOOSH

TERRY AVE & STEWART (DOWNTOWN) > SAM'S Tavern - an attractive Indian couple heading to meet up with family for the night.

MADISON PUB (CAP HILL) > BEACON HILL - Gay trio, I drop one off at 12th & John, then take the other 2 over to BEACON HILL by the hospital.  Quick rides abound.

BUSCH GARDENS (I.D.) > WEST SEATTLE - A adorable waitress finishing her 13 hour day with getting drunk.  She wants music, and I hand her the plug to my AUX.  It’s EDM and we're raving in my car, volume up, heat up, and heated seats on. She tells me about her man, how she loves him.  They've been friends for 7 years, and are finally together for the last year.  She gives me a hug good night.  You rave on you little bear you.

CHELAN CARE (WEST SEATTLE PORT) > U-District - 2 UW Alums coming home from hanging out with deckhands and longshore men.  Comment that I'm the only sober person on the road.

 HELL RIDE

Q NIGHT CLUB (BROADWAY CAP HILL) > JUANITA VILLAGE - A really nice girl paying for a ride home for 2 acquaintances from College.  One of them is wasted, so I hand her the barf bags.  She's not the problem.  It’s the other girl.  I will call her MONSTER.  So as soon as I ask Monster where we need to go (her and the sick girl are the first stop) she lays it into Nice Girl, calling her as many nasty things as possible during the whole trip.  She gives out misleading directions.  She's confrontational. She lives with her dad.  First we're in Downtown Kirkland.  Then it’s not Kirkland but Juanita (because they think Juanita Village is downtown Kirkland. Drunken people). She "accidently" empties her water bottle on the back interior floor.  She has the bright idea to empty out the used barf bag out the window, even though we just handed 5 barf bags to them (I'm washing the car in the morning).  I feel so bad for the nice girl, that I stop the meter once we drop off MONSTER.  It’s almost up to $70, and I wouldn't be surprised if MONSTER did all this to screw nice girl over.

 Nice girl gets home for free; it’s on the house after all that silliness.  On the last portion of the ride, we unvent from MONSTERS attitude, how we think that life too short to be a dick. She waitresses at Juanita Pub once a week and was going to meet with her boyfriend after I dropped off MONSTER, but now she's just tired and needs to sleep.  She has a 9 am massage/salon appointment, its 3 am, and honestly she deserves to pamper herself after being as patient as she was.

LYFT Journal 02.27.2015

THE BLITZ

Spent the morning hours volunteering at my kid's school as a WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students), high fiving 1st graders and playing board games/helping with math/reading. Start work at 5pm.

UW MEDICAL CENTER > JOHN ST & MELROSE AVE (CAP HILL) - Asian female, getting home from her Medical School rounds.  Studying internal medicine and has 1 year of schooling left.

Terry Ave & Stewart (between BELLTOWN and CAP HILL) > Pure Barre (CAP HILL on PINE & 13th) - Asian American Student heading to a class.  She's already late when I pick her up, but is cool as long as we get there.

AMAZON (SOUTH LAKE UNION) > HARBOR STEPS (Downtown) - Amazon Recruiter, originally from Ohio, can't complain about the weather.  Looking around for a new place, not too far from the city.

MACY's (4th & Virginia) > WESTLAKE - Professional Gal getting off of a long day at work, just looking forward to binge watching Season 3 of HOUSE OF CARDS.  Ask her if the food is any good in the neighborhood, she wishes it was more busy like CAP HILL.

EASTLAKE > Sheraton (Downtown Seattle) - WSU Alum working as a Estimator for a Construction Company in Bellevue.  Construction is busy right now.  Just wants to hang with some old Cougs friends/alum for tonight.

7th Ave by BLUE C SUSHI > EARWIG STUDIO (Greater Duwamish) - What I can only describe as Saudi Arabian Notorious B.I.G. and his crew heading to the recording studio.  I think they're not happy at the looks of the studio.  Nice folks, just think they may have been carrying herb on them since I can faintly smell it in the car.  Spend the ride back on Highway 99 with the windows open to air out the scent.

The Rendezvous (Belltown) > Olive & Belmont (CAP HILL) - fellow going home to watch HOUSE OF CARDS.  Was surprised by how quick I was for pick up (I was literally a block away).

22nd & Denny (STEVENS) > HIGHWAY 99 Blues Club (Waterfront) - Owner of the HIGHWAY 99 Blues Club headed in to work.  Has been in Seattle 15 years, and doesn't regret leaving Boston to do so.  Comments on the back street that I ended up in being a place that drug dealing and prostitution used to happen till the new condos got built.  Nice fellow, I may check out HIGHWAY 99 sometime.

3rd & Vine (BELLTOWN) > The STOUP Brewery (BALLARD) - Recent transplant (got here in the summer) Software Developer taking his girlfriends sister and her man around town while she finishes an exam. They're from Sacramento, just visiting for the weekend.

NEAR the PHINNEY RIDGE PEA PATCH > Cafe Mox (BALLARD) - Lady going out on a date with a fellow she met playing online SCRABBLE.  Super cool chick.  I ask her if she has any expectations.  She has none, though she thinks she maybe a better Scrabble player than he is.  She's a bit worried he may be playing the misrepresentation game since he sends pics of himself that gradually go from Studio Shoot to Selfie. Give her a fist bump and wish her luck.

MAGNOLIA by Lawton Park > GREENWOOD (near Greenwood Station Pea Patch) - a very young Matthew McConaughey is heading out to his friends house.

GREENWOOD > BRYANT (?) - The Daughter from the Mother/Daughter Computer Recruiting LYFT a couple weeks ago with her date.  We get into a conversation about Gluten, the SOUTH PARK episode, how wheat/flour is processed differently in the states versus the rest of the world and how that she has a theory its more the way we process food in the states than actual gluten content.  Drop them off at a Italian place that I can't seem to find on any map.

SANDPOINT > LUNCHBOX @ Eastlake - Quiet Lady, picked her up in a swanky neighborhood.  We complain about GPS when it gets close to her destination, how it likes to suddenly go nuts in certain spots in Seattle.

UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON > GREEK ROW - Low key fellow heading to his friend's place with party supplies.

GREEK ROW (U-DISTRICT) > Near GOLDEN GARDENS (BALLARD) - A Sorority Sister visiting her sisters new house.  She's late because she was working.  I joke she's just too cool to be there on time.  Fashionably Late.

BALLARD > TRINITY NIGHT CLUB (PIONEER SQUARE) - 2 WSU Alum heading out for a night of clubbing.

PIONEER SQUARE > The FORUM on WESTLAKE - Quartet of girls who look like they walked out of a REAL HOUSEWIVES OF MIAMI catalog.  One of each color (Asian, black, blonde, brunette).  Really boisterous and fun to have in the car.  They are drunk and ready for more.

FREMONT (FOUNDRY EVENTS) > CAP HILL (Pike & Pine Corridor) - Asian man (looks like Godfrey Gao) his white/persian best friend (who is drunk as balls), a redhead in a difficult to take off stylish onesy (their description, not mine) and a white dude heading out to party hardy.

Near the I-5 south ramp on 45th St (U-District) > GREEK ROW - Engineering Student heading home after a ONESY Party.  Polished of 3 bottles of wine, but is nowhere near as rowdy as the last 2 LYFT rides. Trying to get into a internship, but is running into the cutthroat/brownnosing nature of the whole process.  You gotta know somebody to be a somebody.

At this point its midnight, and I head to KONA to just relax.
