Thrilling and unimaginable story that awakens a set of feelings
Book review of Blood-line incursion by Peter Oredsson
When the dear ones turn your motive into something unforgivable
A person’s uncertainty mixed with the I can be whatever I want attitude can take you down many lanes. In this case as a reader, one gets to experience the distinct smell of eucalyptus trees, heat from a burning sun and a sweet introduction to Australia’s unique animal life. As a foreigner in an unfamiliar country there is not just the culture, language and different seasons that pose as a challenge. But also, how your actions are interpreted by everyone around you has a significant impact. Especially if the ones you love from far away are among those who question your choices. When the ones you thought you could rely on turns your motives into something else. Something bad and unforgivable.
About being turned into a victim
Reading the book Blood-line incursion was a very thrilling experience and awoke a set of feelings. As an immigrant to Australia, the main character went down some rough paths that I could certainly relate to. Feelings of leaving family and safety behind, hope and disappointment are just a few to name. But being able to relate to the main character was just a bonus. The actual story, which happens to be based on a true event, is the real key to the books success. And for me, surprisingly the feeling of disgust over how a family can turn on its own is now haunting me. It makes me ponder over the thought about how hard it is to know what is really going on in a person´s mind sometimes. How easy it is to misinterpret and create a situation out of control. All because of uncertainty and self-preservation. It is scary how the fear of being a victim makes us turn other people into just the same.
A glimpse into how the human mind works
Peter Oredsson has an intriguing way of writing. The present is nicely woven together with flashbacks into an unexpected journey. Of course, there are familiar elements as love, sex and career choices, but it also offers so much more. A glimpse into how the human mind work, and not to forget the funny and almost unimaginable real-life events that seems unreal while they unfold. But most important of all, it is a story that awakens feelings in many ways.
I can’t wait to read his next book!
