Video Interview With Mark Todd & Peter Walker (Broadheds)

I went to Mark Todd's studio to do an interview with him and Peter Walker (singer/guitarist of the band Broadheds). Mark, with some photo backup from his brother, created the artwork for Broadheds' debut album. It's EPIC!!! Especially, since there's a special-edition zine with all of the lyrics embedded into it available. I don't know why, but I just love that sort of thing. There was something so special about seeing all of the lyrics written out by hand along with an incredible set of artworks in a booklet, which was lost with the iTunes takeover. I for one used to buy cd's based on the cover art and I know I'm not alone. 

What you don't see in the video is all of Mark's studio. It's a pretty magical place for art fans! Also, Mark and I were talking about the Webb Art Gallery in Waxahachie, Texas where he just had a solo show. It's an outsider art space about an hour away from Dallas that I got to visit while I was there. 

PS: The little piece of paper that is being held in Peter's hands at the end of the video was actually blown up to gigantic proportions in the booklet as well as a banner for when Broadheds play live concerts.

PPS: Mark Todd and his wife Esther Pearl Watson are the reigning king and queen of the SoCal zine world. So, not only do they both create incredible fine-art, but they make zines on top of that - all while they're also teaching at Art Center. Seriously, if they aren't the hardest working artists out there, I don't know who is!
