Oga Peninsula, Akita Prefecture Oga Peninsula is located on the west land of Tohoku Region, Akita Prefecture. Here you can se bautiful beach with rocky cliff and hilly road. Most of Japan geologist noticed this area beacuse its show unique geological features. First, Oga Peninsula was one of the Russian Continental Plate. It floated appart bacause of the subduction of the oceanic crust to Japan. The subduction process create volcanoes around this land. Second. It is the one of the very few oil resources in Japan. After the volcanic activity aroun that area stopped, sediment start to fill the basin. this sediment also bring a lot of organic contain and deposited. After million years, they maturated and create oil. In this area, some company was built drilling well and try to exploit the petroleoum. Third, youc an see "GOJIRA" here!.
