Is it true that mosquitoes have preferences for specific blood types? (sorry if this has been asked before)

I'm not sure how strong the evidence is for that? I saw at least one retracted article that mosquitoes prefer one blood type over another. But tbh I haven't read anything recent, so I can't say much about it.

do you know if it’s possible for a moth’s wings to be damaged by water?

my pal kit (@lycanthrop-ee) found a moth in the ocean and even after being left outside all night she didn’t fly away and im worried abt her :(

Water could definitely cause enough damage to keep them from flying, however, they can take A LOT of wing damage before they can't fly anymore. I've seen moths with absolutely shredded wings that can still fly. So if the wings look pretty intact, it's possible it fell into the water and exhausted itself trying to get out and just doesn't have the energy to fly anymore. Or, it's too cold. OR, it's just at the end of its natural lifespan and will die soon anyway. Moths don't tend to live particularly long. I would just leave her alone and let her do her thing, even if that thing is dying. So it goes.

happy birthday! i’m actually pretty happy with these drawings but they’re 6/8 moths for the moth project i mentioned before (i’m doing two moths per family, and somehow it seems like we actually do just have the four, just with an abnormal distribution)

Hi!! While I do not have any pictures I just thought you may be interested in a bug project I’m doing for my internship, focusing on one “type” per month I’m doing pr for our local bugs :) This week’s was a general moth feature since we have 1500 moth species and for the next few weeks I’m going to be featuring families of moths (iirc we have four families) <3 bug images will be flooding our social media pages and what a delight it will be

That's really cool! I hope everyone enjoys the fun bug info. You almost certainly have more than four families though, there are sooo many.
