18-03 The weed situation in the geodesic greenhouse dome is totally reasonable. Evolution sends us so many very normal friends.

Cup Fungus
Peziza sp.
Western Washington, May 8 2022 Mary Howerton (shop)
Oh hey would you be up for trying to ID this mushroom? I can't quite figure it out. Western Oregon
Some kind of jelly something probably, fairly smooth pores or teeth I don't think were fully developed when I found it, and the biggest ones were maybe 4cm across?
Think they were a little less orange than these photos show, little more of a washed out brown?
Anyway I've been looking for blogs like this, so thanks for bein here and hope you're having fun!
This is a cup fungi - a member of the Peziza family or something similar. This page has some cup fungi of North West America - you could start by comparing what you can observe to Peziza domiciliana or Peziza proteana.
Really cool find!

Though these cup fungi are frustratingly difficult to narrow down to a single species (as there are many Peziza that are small, brown, grow from soil or wood, and are otherwise unremarkable), I’ve become quite enamoured with the varied, intricate little shapes that are currently covering the forest floor.

More of the lovely cup fungi that I’ve been seeing everywhere lately - these ones looking almost like sea anemones, or orange peel.
