Third Year: Thoughts
So, with my last exam this afternoon, I’ve completed my third year of university. I’ll probably update this when I have all my moderated, final marks back, but here are my general musings.
This has been the best year of my university experience, if not my life. Back in October, I made a conscious decision to push myself out of my comfort zone and throw myself into a new society. That single decision has given me a group of close, genuine friends whom I could only have dreamt of this time last year, and something I love doing.
And at the same time, I’ve adapted. I made time for extracurricular and social stuff while maintaining discipline to my main purpose: achieving good grades. I can wholeheartedly say I worked my arse off this year. Most days were six solid hours of work. I did the reading, I went above and beyond what was required with me, and as far as I can tell, my work ethic has paid off. I’ve got consistent firsts, besides in the awfully-taught research paper module. But despite awfully inadequate teaching, I still achieved a 68 in it – a very high 2:1. I was disappointed initially with the grade, but having had a couple of weeks to reflect on it, I’m proud of it.
I’ve still got two years left of undergrad. I genuinely believe that, in a year’s time, I will have as much positivity and optimism as I currently possess. I want to continue to grow, to continue to push myself, and hopefully continue to reap the benefits of hard work and dedication.
Third year, over and out xo
