September is in the running for my new favorite month this year, and that is saying a lot, because this year has had some really good months. (Like getting engaged in June, taking vacation for the entire month of July...)
Anyway, you wonder why. I left the rig in West Texas last Tuesday and flew back to Grand Rapids on Wednesday, which also was Phil's birthday! The FUN part was that he had no idea he would get to see me anytime in the next couple months! So I showed up at weekly trivia and completely surprised him. I think I earned the best girlfriend ever award. ;)
The following day we drove to Morton to visit his family for the Pumpkin Festival weekend. So many pumpkins. So much family. So much love. and food. and for this fabulous family those are almost all the same things. It was chilly and smelled like fall and we got to spend time walking around drinking coffee and holding hands. I met more of Phil's relatives and got to visit both of his grandparents houses. We had pumpkin doughnuts and looked at shiny old tractors. We giggled like little kids on carnival rides, and we rode carnival rides with little kids.
I can't believe that I get to be part of this crazy and loving family- partially because I'm amazed how blessed I am, and partially because its hard to wrap my head around in-laws! I get to inherit three adorable nephews! (inherit? just go with it.) And in less than a year I'll have two more sisters, which is probably the best thing ever.
Lets just say that I really hope the Pumpkin festival (or "P-fest" for the cool kids) will become an annual thing.
I should note that I stole every single one of these pictures from Mary via facebook. Sorry/Thanks Mary!
