Little request I got for Hannah and Clair so here it is.
It was just an ordinary night for Hannah. She had just finished eating her Chinese takeway for her dinner and was washing up her dirty dishes, not paying any attention to the hustling winds or the pouring rain outside. The only thing she could think about was her husband Henry. Or to put it in better terms ex husband.
It had been three years Hannah had spoken to Henry yet she still thought about him. The two had a painful divorce and looking back on it Hannah understood she was equally to blame for how the two broke up. It all happened due to the death of their daughter Charlotte (or as she wanted to be called Charlie). Charlie was one of Henry’s most beloved things in his life, his entire family was in fact but after the death of his beloved daughter, Henry changed. He was no longer the shy yet lovable nerd Hannah had fallen in love with all those years ago.
No Henry had turned into a broken mess, drinking every night and shutting himself away to his work. On paper it seemed like Henry was to blame but Hannah knew that she handled the death of Charlie just as badly. For Hannah the house was too quiet for her. She couldn't stand the many pictures of her now deceased daughter that were placed around the house. She couldn't stand the fact that despite all of Henry’s protection from his work their daughter's life was still cut short.
Hannah was angry at her husband for something he couldn't control and left him. Left him and their son with no way of talking to her. In the moment in seemed right but now looking back on it Hannah could see how wrong it was. In a way she did the same thing Henry did and it made her sick to her stomach. Even now thinking about it Hannah felt a massive amount of guilt for everything.
'Maybe I should call him up.' Hannah thought to herself after finishing up her dishes. 'It has been so long.'
Taking off her washing up gloves, Hannah walked down the hallway to her phone ready to call up her family for the first time...only for the brunette to hear a loud knock on the door.
"Oh for fuck sake." Hannah muttered under her breath while the person at the door kept pounding away. "Yes, yes I'm coming hang on a...second."
Opening up the door shocked Hannah to her core. What she was expecting was just some random person from her work to show up not her close friend Clair Afton.
As Hannah took a moment to examine Clair she could see the absolute desperation in her eyes and her clothes that were absolutely soaking.
"Hi Hannah." Clair nervously said. "It's been a while."
"What are you doing here?" Hannah asked, still shocked that her friend was standing in her doorway.
"Uh I'll explain in a bit." Clair replied. "Can I come in?"
"Yeah of course you can." Hannah said.
Hearing this Clair entered the little home that belonged to Hannah. Entering the house Clair dropped her wet suitcase onto the floor and began taking off her shoes.
"Sorry that this all so sudden Hannah." Clair said. "I wasn't expecting the weather to be this bad-"
Not caring about the small talk her friend was on about Hannah couldn't help but interrupt the soaking wet strawberry blonde woman. "Why do you have a suitcase with you?"
Clair shut up immediately and turned to face her friend, fear seeping in her eyes.
"I-"
"Clair be honest with me."
"I ran away from home."
The hallway went silent as the two stared at each other.
"You-...what why?"
"Elizabeth is dead."
Hesring those words Hannah felt her heart fall to her stomach. Back when she was living with Henry, she was close with Clair and her husband William's children. In truth the two familes were so linked together it was almost as though they were just one big family. They were so close that Hannah saw Clair's children as her own. So hearing that Elizabeth was dead was crushing beyond anything she felt apart from her own daughter's death.
"I-I'm so sorry." Hannah gently said, her words almost a whisper. "But what about Evan-"
"He's dead as well." Clair said, tears forming in her eyes. "He's been dead for years."
"How? What? When?"
"A few weeks after you left Evan died." Clair explained. "Springlocked by Fredbear."
"And Liz?"
"I don’t know." Clair replied, her tears falling down her face. "William opened up a new place and he took Elizabeth and Michael there... Elizabeth didn’t come back..."
Clair couldn't continue instead she fell to her knees breaking down crying. Seeing this Hannah raced towards her friend and embraced her into a hug completely ignoring that her clothes would get wet.
"I'm so sorry Clair."
"It's not your fault." Clair whispered. "I didn't leave just because of her death though."
"Then why?"
"It was because of him."
"Him?"
"Will."
Hannah paused as many questions ran through her head. "What do you mean William?"
"When he told me about Liz's death he was so cold." Clair responded. "I don’t know how to explain but there was something nagging me that he wasn't the nice person I married...doesn't help about this."
She lifted up one her soggy sleves to reveal five bruises on her arm.
"He's been abusing you?" Hannah gasped.
"I think that's a strong word-" Clair replied.
"No it's not." Hannah shrieked. "How long has this been going on for?"
Clair took an agonising pause before revealing the truth. "Five months. I know he's been doing it to Michael as well and-"
"He's been abusing Michael as well?" Hannah gasped.
Clair nodded as more tears fell down her face. "I should have done something to help Michael but Jen said she'll take care of him and...I just had no where else to go other than here. If it's too much of a problem I'll leave-"
"No you won't." Hannah snapped. "You are staying here now."
"You mean it?" Clair asked.
Hannah nodded in response. "Let me get you a towel and get yoy out of those soaking wet clothes."
Getting up from the floor Hannah quickly ran to the bathroom to grab a spare towel. While she did that Hannah's mind raced with realisation upon realisation as she thought about Clair's words. Back when Charlie died no one was able to figure out the killer. It was a cold case much to the dismay of both her and Henry but there was one person who thought she had caught William.
That being Jen, Henry’s older sister. Jen had told Hannah about her suspicion that it was William who had killed their beloved daughter in cold blood with the older woman using the same sort of points back then Hannah didn't believe her but now knowing what William was capable of, Hannah had to admit that now she had to agree with Jen's points.
That wasn’t the only thing Hannah was thinking about though. The other thing on her mind was Clair. Despite three years of not seeing each other Clair was still as beautiful as ever. Back when Hannah was a teenager her only friends were Henry and Clair with the three of them being a close knit trio so when Henry went off to England for college which left her and Clair alone. Being alone for so long the two had devolved something closer than friends and Hannah couldn't stop thinking about it.
Getting back downstairs Hannah passed Clair the spare towel and watched as her friend stripped down and dried herself. As she watched Hannah felt the memories of those lonely nights back when they were young adults. The sleepovers, the years they spent college together, even the kisses and moans from their activities back then. It all came flooding back.
"What are you staring at?" Hannah heard Clair ask, pulling her out of thoughts.
"Oh nothing." Hannah shrugged.
"Nothing?" Clair repeated grinning slightly. "I don't think you looking at me with a small smile on your face is nothing."
"Okay fine." Hannah sighed. "I was thinking about...you know the college times we had while Henry was in England."
"Yes of course." Clair replied.
"Do you remember those nights?" Hannah asked. "You know the lonely nights where we felt each other?"
"I-of course I do." Clair answered. "I remember them very well. I don't get why you're thinking about them."
"It might be me being lonely but I just want to have one more night like that." Hannah muttered. "Just another person to lean on and well...kiss."
Another silence fell the hallway.
"Are you hitting on me?" Clair asked with a little chuckle. "If so that is the worst way you've hit on someone. You did better in college and hell a few years with Henry."
"What no I didn't?"
"Hannah there was a day where you were hitting on Henry so much I caught you two banging in his office-"
Hannah felt her face flush as Clair carried on listing off her antics. It was both really embarrassing but also kinda sweet knowing that Clair remembered all these events including the many times she had flirted eith her friend. While Clair continued to list Hannah's flirty comments Hannah moved towards her friend reaching out and cupping her friend's cheeks and pulling towards her face.
The two women looked at each other, lost in each other eyes before Hannah closed the gap and pressed her lips against Clair's. Surpisingly Clair kissed back and the two melted into the kiss with Hannah pinging her friend against one of the walls and continued making out with her.
After a long few minutes Hannah pulled away from the kiss and could hear Clair gently whisper one thing out.
"I've needed this."
"Same here." Hannah replied.
The two women carried on looking at each other longingly.
"Is it bad to say that I think I love you?" Clair asked.
"No of course not Clair." Hannah whispered. "I think I loved you longer than I thought."
"You mean it?"
Hannah nodded. "Honestly I think I loved you the same way I loved Henry. My life just isn't complete without you two and these past three years have made me realise how much I loved you."
"What happens if Henry wants you back?" Clair asked. "Would you abandon-"
"Never." Hannah quickly said. "Preferably I would take you and him but if he wants me back but doesn't accept this...I'll drop him for you in a heartbeat."
Clair felt her eyes begin to water. "Thank you Hannah." She whispered and quickly brought Hannah back into a kiss which the brunette woman accepted and kissed back.
Hey, I've been looking for this modern day phantom AU but I can't find it anywhere, and I think you're the one who recommended it to me, so I was wondering if you have a link to it? (And in case you're not the the one who recommended it and I'm a total idiot, do you know of any good poto modern day AUs anyway?)
No! You're not an idiot. Here are some of the modern fics I enjoy.
