It's an interesting exchange because to me, it strongly implies Hornet is intending to leave Pharloom shortly after she stops the void. She's quite explicitly saying she sees Sherma as a leader and saying she's gonna leave. Sherma specifically says "Final Parting". It feels like a pretty short turn around is expected here.

Further, the Menu style unlocked by getting the final ending is "Surface" and Lace's pin joining Hornet's on all menu styles chosen.

The Menu style carries an implication for where Hornet ends up/what her ending is. If she does Weaver Queen it's "Cradle", if she does twisted child, it's "Greyroot" and at the start of Act 3 you unlock "The Abyss".

So, the implications we can take from the Surface menu style and Lace's Pin joining Hornet is 1. Hornet leaves Pharloom relatively soon after the ending 2. Lace goes with her.

Most post-cannon fics I've seen run under the assumption that Hornet sticks around for awhile, helps fix stuff, and then maybe goes home eventually.

But like. What if she didn't?

What if Hornet fixed the void situation, maybe said goodbye to like one person and then was just out. Girl wanted to go home. She's kind of completely forgotten social convention, she's used to people vanishing from her life without warning. So she fixes the problem, and she goes home to check in on Hallownest.

Ideally, I think it'd be really funny if she was just like "Soooo I'm going home, do you want to come?" to Lace and Lace was like "yeah sure im not doing anything else" and went with her.

It gets even funnier if Phantom survived everything, and maybe like 2 people spot Lace w/Hornet before she leaves. So from Phantom's POV this fucking weaver shows up, kills their dick of a mother, void is everywhere, then not everywhere, and then steals their sister and just fucking leaves????? So Phantom has to go out into the wastes now to try to steal their sister back, spend ages figuring out how to get to Hallownest only to find out that Lace is fine and left of her own accord. Sorry Phantom, but a pretty girl asked her out, and Lace wasn't about to turn down that date.

Also from other people in Pharloom's perspective, this random bug showed up, and might've been a weaver but nobody is sure and she really didn't look like one, and then she murdered god, maybe caused the apocalypse, and then just. left. Went on her way. Why did she come here? They don't know. Why did she kill god? They also don't know. How did she fix stuff? completely unclear. What was her name? Strong evidence indicates it might be "Hornet" but she sucked at introducing herself. Where is she now? Where did she come from? Literally nobody knows. She's just out. Goodbye and good luck.
