       mia is setting the table as the hinges of the door swing it open. her first reaction is to panic, dropping the utensils in her hand as they clatter on the floor as her head whips in the direction of the entrance. though a sense of relief washes over her as ryker can be identified as the person walking in. of course, she wasn’t usually this on-edge. but the place she’d come to call home over the last little while had received a visiter a couple hours before, one that she was almost certain ryker was unaware of. “my my, and who might you be?” the voice from earlier sends its reminder towards her brain. “m-mia.” in that moment, she’d been unaware as to what to do, there was no way to contact ryker and it would be painfully obvious if she tried to run under the circumstances. “we’ll come back later, turns out my assumptions of nobody being home were incorrect.” that was the last thing she’d heard from the stranger before him and another man stumbled outside again without a trace. the encounter had been littering her brain all day, and now that ryker was home she didn’t have a clue as to how to bring it up to him. “oh, i –– w-welcome home.” mia mutters, reaching down to pick up the silverware she’d dropped.

i was actually debating on using some just bc i miss it tbh
