returned atem headcanons (personal edition)
he wears makeup; proper ransacks the Sephora looking for the perfect longwear eyeliner that best mimics kohl. the bold malachite eyeshadow look people imagine Egyptians wore are an anachronism and were outdated by his time. that said he doesn’t mind wearing it because it does look neat. unfortunately he is yet to find a good colour matching foundation (being in Japan does not help).
waxes, shaves, or lasers everything, i mean everything. doesn’t matter that it’s time consuming or expensive. he considers excessive body hair to be unhygienic and simply doesn’t feel clean otherwise.
regular manicure, pedicure, and skin treatments. cleanliness and beauty are a religious obligation to him. ugliness is an insult to the gods.
okay so canonically that tricolour aloe plant looking ass nightmare is his actual hair but more realistically he would have shaved his head and worn a wig, and not one that looked like that. still, let’s say on balance he doesn’t shave his head but does enjoy wearing wigs from time to time.
perfume collection. hundreds of bottles. it is an ethical obligation to smell good and he’s loves all the varieties available in these modern times.
is not in the slightest bit self conscious. nakedness is natural and just a fact of life. clothing was often sheer in his time, so the sight of the human form is a non issue. of course he will not being going out like that because a) it is way too cold where he lives now and b) sensibilities have changed considerably but in his own home? the shirt and shoes are negotiable. he will take the shendyt over trousers.
jewellery? yes! abounding in the stuff. especially gold but he won’t say no to some coloured beads and inlaid semi-precious stones. he doesn’t like yugi’s jewellery though, finds it tacky (this is canon). if anyone wants to hazard an explanation i am all ears.
he is the sun’s son. rising and resting with the cycle of the Mandjet. Like a fucking parakeet if it’s dark he’s probably asleep. while the vengeful spirit version of him would have been happy to administer a shadow game or two at 10:00pm, returned him wants a nap.
