1. What is your favorite place you have ever traveled and why? This is a hard one. I loved Mexico because of the food and the language, but I think the city I have fallen most in love with, just for itself, was Castres, France. It's in the south and was genuinely the most beautiful small town I've ever seen. It had a boat to take you to the BEST park I've ever seen along the gorgeous canal that ran through it. It had a water park that cost like $10. It was everything you needed of a big city, but condensed into like a mile.
2. What is one place you wish you could travel to (real or not), and why? Definitely hogwarts. Get me on a broom, goddamn it, I wanna fly.
3. If you could meet one non-fictional person in all of time, who would it be and why? Charlie Chaplin. That motherfucker was deep and wise beyond his years. He went through so much and had so much foresight. I'd do anything to talk to him, to just listen to him ruminate on the state of the world and the people in it. On religion, politics, anything. He was brilliant.
4. If you could meet one fictional person in all stories, who would it be and why? So there a ton of inspirational women in literature who I love, and some wise and life-changing men, but... I really just wanna meet Mr. Darcy because I'm shallow.
5. They say that in your life you meet 5 people who change and shape who you will become. Have you met anyone like this in your life so far? Absolutely. I can name two off the top of my head who have completely shaped most things about me. Both are ex-boyfriends, but both are two of my closest friends to this day. The first taught me how to embrace all situations, all obstacles, to not take myself so seriously, to learn to love myself and to brush off the negativity of others. The second (HEY, ETHAN) taught me how easy it is to fall in love and that the purest and most honest relationships are those that seem effortless.
6. In that same line of thinking, what “work” (book, play, piece of art, poem, song, album, film, TV series… whatever) has had the greatest impact on you? This is hard, because the novel Ishmael by Daniel Quinn changed the way I see the world and is my favorite novel to this day, but The Lion King helped me through my father's death more than any human being could have. I have a tattoo of Rafiki's simba drawing to symbolize that struggle and progress, so... either of those two! EVERYONE SHOULD READ ISHMAEL.
7. If you could have any kind of dog you want, what would it be? Mother. fucking. wiener dogs. Dachshunds need to get at me in a non-sexual way. They fucking WADDLE.
8. What is the most recent movie you hated and why? Sorry, if you're reading this, Audree, because I hate Love Actually. I hate rom-coms in general and this is like 5 rom-coms in one. I think all the stories perpetuate awful stereotypes about "love". But I do appreciate any movie that perpetuates the very true stereotype that Colin Firth is constantly a wet t-shirt contest contestant.
9. Are you a religious person? I'm the least religious person. I don't believe in any kind of god, karma, etc. You shouldn't need an excuse to be decent to others. When we die, we die. End of story. Live for yourself and to help others BECAUSE WHY WOULDN'T YOU?
10. Fuck, marry, kill: Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter? Fuck Facebook, marry Tumblr, kill Twitter.
11. What is the OTP to end all OTPs in your opinion? THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE. Most of my OTPs have long become canon (Ross and Rachel, Monica and Chandler, etc). I did love Jackie and Hyde from That 70s Show... but I suppose my current one, and the only one that is truly actually contested by some people, is River/Eleven. Which I ship so hard it hurts. She's exactly who he needs at this time in his life because she challenges him. I could write a novel about how they are perfect for each other, but I'm sure no one cares.
My questions: 1. What is your favorite song and why? 2. What song is your guilty pleasure? 3. Do you have a show that you have seen every ep of and are slightly ashamed? 4. Name a TV couple that you HATE. 5. What tags do you have blacklisted (or wish you did)? 6. What year was the most important in your life and why? 7. Why did you cry the last time that you did? 8. Why did your last relationship end? 9. What is your drink of choice? 10. What movie do you think was tragically overlooked by the Oscars (any year)? 11. Which celebrity's attractiveness do you think is overrated?
