A New Trial Awaits || PhDamn!
It took Cameron a moment to process what he had just heard. Not the part about Asya being pregnant. As soon as she talked about being sick, he had half-suspected this scenario, though he hadn't mentioned it. A part of him thought that as long as he didn't bring it up, it wouldn't have been true. He wasn't even stunned at the fact that Asya was keeping the child. Of course she was! Any other option would have been totally out of character for her. The part he couldn't wrap his mind around, that had him so stunned that he couldn't move for a few seconds, was the last bit. How she thought there was even the tiniest fraction of a chance that he would deny responsibility. He couldn't. Not ever. It made him feel even worse about the whole situation that he hadn't given her that impression.
Cameron snapped back to reality soon enough, only to find Asya already quite a distance away. He sprinted after her, calling. "Wait!" He caught up to her within a short time, matching her pace. "I don't need to think, Asya. I know I didn't want this to happen. I fucked up, and I'm sorry for that." iHe paused, not quite sure what to say. When he spoke agan, he was softer, just loud enough for her to hear. "I would never ask you to do anything with this child that you don't want to do. I would understand if you wanted me to go away, to never see you again. I would. I would hate every minute of it, but I'd understand." He breathed heavily, almost able to feel his life changing entirely. His voice was just a bit shaky, reflecting the shock that even now lingered within him. "I don't want to leave you, Asya, not ever. I don't abandon the people I love, especially not when I was the one who put them in such a tough place." He stopped, and held her gently in place, looking into her eyes as best he could. "I love you, Asya. I'm not going to abandon you."
