I was made to be the boss. That is 100% for sure. . BUT I had no idea what it would be like to own a rapidly growing multimillion dollar brand + lead a team of humans. . Until... I did. . You may already know this: I have no formal business training. . My major was Psychology. My minor is in Biblical Studies. . I have a Masters in Counseling. #phddropout . That means I had no (literally zero) idea how to manage people. . You also may know this: I was (once upon a time) considered a control freak. . And while I've let go of control in massive ways in every area of my life... the hardest was my business. . I birthed this thing, y'all. . I was broke, in grad school, in an apartment in the ghetto teaching myself to build a website and figure out all the things. . I grew this from nothing. This is a creation of my... soul. . AND NOW YOU WANT ME TO TRUST OTHER PEOPLE WITH IT?! . ^^^ scary!!! . But here is what I've learned... people want to help you. . They want to take care of you. And support you. . And do their jobs really well. . They want ownership. And responsibility. . And something to believe in. . Your employees are actually a lot like your clients. (It took me FOREVER to see this.) . They need support, love, and encouragement. . While this has been the biggest area of growth for me... and at times super challenging.... . ... but it’s becoming one of my favorites. . Now it feels like a great privilege and honor to allow my team to support me. . And to share more of the vision. . And let them do the things... without me. . It still scares me. Sometimes I start doing other people's jobs. . But mostly... I've let go of the illusion of control. . This is what I’m learning. ♥️ .
