hihi c: ty for the junco photo they are actually quite cute! there are many fun birds in my area but by far the one that seems to be everywhere i look is the australian magpie. they like to hang out in groups so i can only assume they are all gossiping and secret-sharing

#ask #pherrie rambles #pherrie draws #growing up there were magpie larks everywhere but i much prefer this magpie #even though objectively it is more terrifying during swooping season #i have not drawn anything today this was my warmup lol #so we have a healthy dose of questionable bird anatomy and playing around with brushes i didn't know i had going on #i misclicked on my brush and went mad with power (ahem. added squares everywhere)

haven’t told him this yet but i’m a bit obsessed with the fact that someone at my uni carries around star stickers. and he’ll stick one next to a drawing he’s done that he likes.

I watched him do this and then I looked at my own sketchbook, where it is blank of all things except a few critical notes. I think it’s good to analyse and learn from your art. I think it’s also very good to remind yourself to be proud of the things you’ve drawn.

It’s so clever. It’s my favourite thing I’ve seen this week. I’m going to start drawing my own little stars next to the things I’m proud of.

#pherrie rambles #the stickers only really work for traditional work #and specifically we’re doing figure drawing so it’s an efficient way to organise #what you like out of say 10+ drawings that you’ve done in a night #but i will probably try out doing this digitally too! for sketches more than finished works #Art feels like more of a mental challenge than a physical one all the time #I think it’s really important to find ways to make the mental difficulties more manageable #and in this case reminding yourself of the good in your art is so perfect

also for the record my inbox is open for drawing requests! mostly for 'plushies' (this style) but also just for me to have fun with if i get tired of work, so who knows what I'll come up with.
