Barnabas. The name was still grating on his nerves, he was eager to get his hands on that man, there was more to the witch that August had not said, a bit of a personal vendetta but that was not for Aria or Philippe to know. Instead, he’d confirmed what he had known about him, while August took his own part in preparing to not only break-into the witch’s safe house, but confront whatever demon might possibly be lurking within. There was just one problem, in Ashbourne writings on demon’s were scarce, and if they existed they were well hidden and protected.
Isaac had had such works, but all that was far from August’s grasp now, even if he could conjure it here, the magical tomes were warded against such theft. After all, the younger witch had learned everything he knew about theft from his former mentor, but it was that skill that gave him an advantage still. While he did not have it in his possession any more, August had seen writings on banishing circles, but each demon required something different, and while he didn’t have this book any more, he did know just where to find it.
August’s fingers curled around the heavy metal door-knocker, thump thump thump reverberated through the house, was Philippe sleeping? He didn’t know, he wasn’t even sure if he was home, but what did the vampire do all day? Truthfully, August had little clue, but from the time he’d spent staking out the man’s home in the past, the witch knew at least that generally speaking, Philippe would be home around this time. “Philippe!” August called out, he cupped his hands over his mouth as he tilted his head towards the window upstairs, it was left open. He knocked again, with his fist this time. “Open up.”
