❝There weren't many places for someone like her. Haly's Circus was the only place she felt like she could be herself, with the presence of people like Clay Williams and Abigail Anderson to help her survive life as the "flexible circus freak." Perhaps the one person to make her feel like she really belonged was Dick Grayson, the third and final member of The Flying Graysons, and the closest confidant Phillipa Lam had ever had. But that was before his death of his parents, in which Dick Grayson was taken in by Bruce Wayne. And though promises were made to stay in touch, Phillipa Lam had lost the one person she felt she could truly trust. Until the day Phillipa finds her grandfather, and a legacy she never knew she had to protect.

Known on the streets as Chang’e after the Chinese goddess of the moon, Phillipa Lam finally has a purpose again. Though it's vigilantism and more than slightly illegal, Phillipa feels like she’s in her own life again. That purpose only intensifies when she meets Hank Hall and Dawn Granger, who call themselves Hawk and Dove and go after the worst of the criminals, low life assholes who prey on children. The three of them together are unstoppable, a balance that couldn't ever be disrupted. Until an old and familiar face shows up at their doorstep, a teenage girl in tow.

And so, with a demon teenager, a living-breathing fireplace, and Shrek personified (as a tiger), Phillipa Lam finds herself in a ragtag group of makeshift superheroes, which may or may not be the new Haly's Circus in which Phillipa Lam doesn't feel more comfortable in her own skin than in the moment the Titans are formed.❞
