Best session of D&D I’ve ever had XD
So our D&D campaign got completely derailed mid-session when we
1) discovered dinosaurs existed as game players and
2) got ambushed by 3 hooded figures at an ancient ruins and who warned us that at midnight a portal opened at the ruins to a dangerous other-world. Naturally we decided to stay (and kill them) but the battle dragged on and midnight happened.
Which was when our DM decided an entire pack of 15 velociraptors came out of the woods because we’d been transported to this like dinosaur-era other world.
Only we decided they were not velociraptors.
They were Philosoraptors.
They wore monocles, top hats, and vests.
And we befriended them by engaging in philosophical discussion and then escaped while they pack-attacked the portal guards.
Then we met the head Philosoraptor at a nearby castle they’d built. Yes they have amazing architectural capability WE CHECKED and they’re PHILOSORAPTORS they can do ANYTHING.
And now we’re helping him take down a local T-Rex who hunted and killed his pack as we try to escape this dinosaur world and get back to our reality.
