Here’s the thing, I haven’t watched “Why I Quit Youtube” because I pretty much only watch their joint content, I’m a fake fan. Ok, so maybe they’re not Markiplier rich, but they’re definitely upper middle class at the very least? Who can afford to build a fucking house? Or to go on tour at all, even if no money is made back. If they’re struggling with money, what the fuck are the rest of us doing? I guess we’re poorer than dirt poor? How low does the bar for poor go?
It's called a model home. They didn't build the house. You're given templates and you chose one. Then you get to decide what goes inside.
Usually in a new community with other model homes. It's just a new build but you chose what goes in it.
Based on what they've told us about the phouse it's probably less than 2k sq ft, or just over. It's not some mansion.
Also they planned to live in the second London apartments for a year MAX and ended up staying 4, so that kinda eats up savings.
And for a long time it was literally only a one income house. Dan did not post enough to make money from YouTube.
Not to mention, if you have a video over 8 minutes, you CAN make upwards of 8k a month, if all your videos are demonetized, you're making whatever the sponsorship pays.
Incohearent, for example, pays about $4,500 a video for the amount of likes, not views, they get (around 70k on those videos). Which is INSANELY low for the industry. I hope they have some slightly better deal, but probably not much. I can't even find what Nord pays, though I fucking hope it's more than just 100% commission, which is literally all I could find.
Being a creator is a gig job. It's video to video. Some months are great, some months suck a lot. The first two quarters of any year are typically the worst, so you're also saving for 3+ months where you aren't making anything at all.
Which is why Patreon is such a game changer for them.
Also they lose money on those tours and HL is not cheap to put together. They're not poor, but upper middle class doesn't mean what you think it means, ESPECIALLY in a city like London.
They're comfortable, and they watch their money and continue to work so they can stay that way.
