What weapons do you hate in TF2? If you could add a weapon what would it be?
(Incoming weapon hate!
oh ho boy incoming rant: YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
The Machina - This monstrosity is by far, at least in my opinion, the worst weapon in the game. Why? Because it promotes two things Sniper's shouldn't reward themselves for. One, it promotes body shots. A fully charged shot to the head is already enough to kill an overhealed heavy, and this damage boost on fully charged shots only promotes the idea that if you have a fully charged shot, unless the target is a heavy, you don't even need to worry about hitting the head. Just hit them in the body! Who cares right? Two, it promotes what I like to call "Stand Still Sniping" where the sniper doesn't move at all, or stays in one little cozy spot the entire time. This is not how sniper play should be! Snipers must be active! Move around! The damage boost on fully charged shots delivers the idea that you should stand around waiting for the charge to work itself up, because then you'll get the kill even if you bodyshot! I use the charge meter as a timer. If I haven't gotten a shot off and done damage by the time the charge meter finishes filling, I should pack up and move at least to a new nearby spot to search for new targets. The machina is what makes bad snipers.
The Phlogistinator - While nearly as bad as the Machina, its by far the most annoying weapon I've ever come across. I dislike it for the same reasons I dislike the machina, it creates bad pyros. How? Its lack of compression blast and the MMPH meter. Both reward you for being the WM1 pyro! If thats not enough of a reason, I don't know what is.
The Soda Popper - Four word. Crits on a stick. I don't mind the idea of a Force a Nature with the chance to score some mini crits. Its the fact that they're so easy to score. I can literally sit in spawn, walk in a circle for eleven seconds, swap to my pistol, then switch back and unleash the hype whenever I need to. The weapon would be infinitely better if it was more like the buff banner, where you need to score damage to increase the hype meter.
The Gunslinger - While I don't inherently hate this weapon, I do think it needs to be tweaked a bit, as mini sentries have ruined maps like Harvest. The main pain in the ass is the build rate. The health of the sentry raises itself too fast, and thus it takes two rockets from a soldier to kill the sentry upon building, where as a regular sentry only takes one. I'd be totally fine with this weapon if it was tweaked a bit, such as the gunslinger is not able to upgrade buildings past lvl 1.
The Dead Ringer - For reasons I hate the machina and the phlogistonator, I hate the dead ringer because it promotes bad spy play. Spies are supposed to be infiltrators that go into the enemies back field and take out key enemies such as medics, heavies, engineers, and snipers. The dead ringer, coupled with the ambassador, creates a pow pow gunslinger gameplay that was just never designed for the spy. Until rather recently, I was using the Dead Ringer. I now use the stock invis watch and I find the quieter decloak and the fact that enemies aren't constantly looking for me after I "die" to be a much larger benefit.
As for weapons to add, I can't really think of anything. Beyond these above, Valve has done a great job of adding weapons and I look forward to seeing what they'll cook up next.
