Disposophobia - FEAR: A fear of throwing away only possessions or belongings, which have little or no value to the ordinary person. They collect items because they believe they'll have some value in the future.
Hoarding - ADDICTION: Acquiring a large number of items that would appear to have little or no value to others. They are closed to have "severe cluttering" in their home, so much, that it is no longer able to function as a viable living space, the situation also causes them significant distress and anxiety.
RICHARD WALLACE is an extreme case of a hoarder, who recently starred in a Channel 4 documentary.
"Do I live here? No, I exist here"
Emotional connections to objects: We found the average user that hoards through SurveyMonkey (over 70 responses) and asked them about their habits involving the collection of particular items. Our discovered user:
Aged 19
Female
Heterosexual
Middle class
Lives in a cluttered environment
Would rather live in a more organized / minimal environment.
I found that I could easily relate to all of these factors, so I decided to focus on personal hoarding in my own way.
