when melinda was small, phoebe taught her the woogeyman spell because the little witchlighter was having nightmares about the demon. she would come in every night just before bed time and have melinda repeat it to herself constantly. as a child, of course, everyone believes the woogeyman to be a fictional story. then as she got older, she asked phoebe what her obsession with that chant was and phoebe told her the story behind it. phoebe never wanted melinda to have to go through the same thing she did with the woogeyman. her aunt phoebe had enough confedence in the young girl to overcome her fear of the woogeyman like she had done once. that is one reason why melinda loves her aunt so dang much, for always having faith in her.
