assessment 3: art in public places concept plan
Location We propose to create an installation in the stairwell of the Library in the UniSA City West campus.
Work A narrow, cocoon like vertical structure that provides an immersive experience for the viewer to enter.
Materials Cardboard boxes, duct tape, string.
Construction Deconstructed cardboard boxes that are painted on the interior that are then stacked and taped together. The form will be anchored to the banisters with string to provide additional support.
Removal The removal of the structure will be a reversal of the construction process where the string is untied and the boxes dismantled in the space.
Dimensions Approximately 1 meter diameter, 4.5m height.
Public Safety Being in between the stairs, the installation will not block the exits or cause congestion through the main thoroughfare. The installation will not prevent access to building services in the area.
