favorite movie and tv show!!! And spare no detail abt why u like them !
hoo boy,,
MOVIE: Pride and Prejudice (2005)
My favorite genre of movie is the romantic drama or comedy. Seriously, it’s totally straight and awful, but the cheesiness and the inevitably of a happy ending draws me in every time. I’m also a fan of period dramas. Pride and Prejudice is both. I’ve read the book as well, it’s great and full of sass, Lizzie Bennett is by far one of the strongest female characters I’ve read about. This exact film rendition of it, however, is absolutely well done. Keira Knightley is Lizzie and she does it so well. There are a lot of details focused on in this one. It leaves out a lot of plot points because it’s regular movie length (for a full film adaptation of this book, see the BBC version with Colin Firth. 6 hours long and leaves nothing out), but it makes up for it in cinematography (SO STUNNING!!! THE ENGLISH COUNTRYSIDE IS BEAUTIFUL!), small details (we see animals at the Bennett household, the maids, The Hand Moment, Bingley with Jane’s ribbon, so much), and an absolutely stunning soundtrack (I bought it and when it arrived I cried, ask my sister). Anyway, this movie is really great and it’s always my Go-To.
TV SHOW: Steven Universe
I just recently binged this show and I just want to say that I’m mad I didn’t start watching it sooner. It is such a quality cartoon. It’s lighthearted, but it easily balances real discussions that kids need to hear with all the humor. There is so much room for theorizing with all the vague information we’re given, and even though it’s slowly being given to us, it’s just enough that we’re still theorizing and interested. The characters are deep and have a lot driving them and are honestly so relatable. I relate so closely with Amethsyt (she has a deep-set feeling of unworthiness and inadequacy, something I feel a lot), with Garnet (who tries to be the strong one but can’t always be, although she has a hard time admitting that), with Pearl (the logical thinking), with Rose (seeing the wonder and beauty in something), and with Steven (unconditionally loving his friends and going out of his way to make sure they’re safe/happy). The show constantly brings up topics that are often seen as “”taboo”” (same sex relationships, abuse, self image problems, disability, so so many things). The music is top notch and relatable, there are hilarious moments, each episode is short so it’s easy to pay attention to, it’s just a quality show and I’m so glad it came into my life.
