Found this old pic of “my wand” from when Pottermore was a thing. Got me feeling a little nostalgic.

I am a Ravenclaw/Thunderbird who has a dapple grey stallion patronus. My wand is 10 in alder wood phoenix feather core that is slightly springy. Who's wand do i have and what does this all mean?

hello! your wand is unique to you! from cursory searches, i couldn’t find any characters from the books who have the same wand, although Professor Quirrell did have an alder wand - but with a unicorn hair core instead of phoenix feather. 

alder wood makes for an interesting kind of wand because the wood itself is unyielding but it often likes to match itself to witches & wizards who are a bit more complementary to that rather than unyielding themselves. as such, alder wands often match to witches and wizards who are likeable and helpful. in my mind, i see alder wands matching to people who want to be part of a greater cause, but don’t necessarily feel the need to bear the burden of being the leader of the group. 

your wand’s core is phoenix feather, the rarest core, and the core whose allegiance is hardest to win. combined with alder wood, which makes for a wand that wants to perform well and help its witch or wizard partner, i think the more stubborn aspects of phoenix feather core wands would be sort of equalized or negated with your wand, making it helpful and intuitive. Alder wands are also the best at performing non-verbal spells, which makes me believe that your wand would tend to produce magic that it less flashy or grandiose, but would still appear to be very powerful to others. 

as for your other wand qualities - i think you’re probably very capable of getting up when you’re knocked down and that you learn from your and other’s mistakes. are you shorter than average? your height could be reflected in your wand as well, since it is definitely a smaller wand :) 

the ravenclaw/thunderbird combination to me is a ravenclaw who is not only smart, witty, all the things a Ravenclaw can be, but that you are good at applying those skills and talents in your everyday life - they are driven by their intuition and can be highly interested in a variety of subjects. 

the stallion patronuses represent someone who i feel is very capable of protecting themselves, but when they need extra help, they might look to a social group or network or a few close friends for support. the dapple gray horse is a stylish one and the coloring of it suggest to me an inner need to do good or be good, and perhaps with a flair for the dramatics.

Hi! I'm a Thunderbird Ravenclaw with an eagle patronus and a redwood with Phoenix feather 10 3/4 inches and hard flexibility

something that i think really gets overlooked as far as wandlore is concerned is the flexibility of wands. i’ve taken the wand test a dozen times and while my wand wood and core are always different, i almost always get a brittle flexibility wand. Don’t you think it’s interesting? Your wand is a hard flexibility, which I think means you’re a bit more steadfast in your beliefs and ideas, etc. 

redwood! this wand type is usually matched with people who appear to be lucky. i know people like this irl - people who have good gut feelings, good intuition. it looks like luck to other people. :) and combine that with a phoenix feather core, and I think it would make for a witch or a wizard who is broadly accomplished - well rounded, even. 

taking it a step further, i think this wand combination works really well with Ravenclaw and Thunderbird; it’s almost like a combination of the two, since the phoenix feather core could definitely represent Ravenclaw in its ability to take on a wide range of magic, and Thunderbird goes along nicely with redwood & its sort of adventurous side. :)

Okay, so I finally got an account and took my sorting house quiz. :/

i am not satisfied. I got put into Hufflepuff. 

I’m not saying i don’t like Hufflepuff. Quite the contrary, I love it. But- about two months ago, i would say, I had begun to think about what house I was in. My debate was between Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. I thought, “im either a Hufflepuff with Ravenclaw tendencies or a Ravenclaw with Hufflepuff tendencies.” After a long thought process (a loooong thought process), I figured that I’m more of a Ravenclaw with Hufflepuff tendencies. That. Is. Where. I. Want. To. Be. I mean i got so used to thinking of myself as a Ravenclaw and now idk what to do with my life. Idk. I just. no. Im just gonna keep thinking of myself as a Ravenclaw and ignore the Hufflepuff page on Pottermore. but i really wanted to see the page for the Ravenclawsss. i cry.

PLUS I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY DON’T GIVE EVERYONE THE SAME QUESTIONS?!! Like I’ve been watching BookTubers’ videos on their house sorting and they got different questions then I did and i don’t think that’s fair because what if I had had those questions and ended up with Ravenclaw because of my truthful answeeerrrrssss... im not very happy right now.

On a brighter note, I also got my “wand”. Its Black Walnut Wood, 12 1/4″ in length, Phoenix feather core, and hard flexibility. I love the description it gave for each part of the want, especially the Black Walnut and Phoenix Feather Core:

Black Walnut

Less common than the standard walnut wand, that of black walnut seeks a master of good instincts and powerful insight. Black walnut is a very handsome wood, but not the easiest to master. It has one pronounced quirk, which is that it is abnormally attuned to inner conflict, and loses power dramatically if its possessor practises any form of self-deception. I wonder if the Wizarding World of Harry Potter sells these specific wands... if so, when I go (because i will go someday), I will most definitely get my wand. :)

I am actually really honored to be put in Hufflepuff because of all of the loyal and kind traits, but im also a wee bit disappointed I didn’t get Ravenclaw. tee hee.
