You know, people can enjoy something and still support real life issues. Believe it or not, there’s room to enjoy life WHILE taking it seriously. I’ll never understand the idea that having fun or enjoying something means you don’t care about other things going on in the world. That’s what fandoms are for.

@phoenixreal No one is forbidding you from liking something AND supporting real life issues. But there’s gotta be a line that SEPARATE it, especially when it’s an ideal fictional world where real life issues and discrimination DON’T EXIST IN IT. Escapism is something everyone do, I do it almost everyday. BUT one has to know that “Okay this thing I enjoy is fine BUT I gotta know that this world is NOT reality and I can’t ALWAYS apply real life logic onto this setting”

People on the YOI fandom are relating a serious issue that are killing many people with “protecting” Victor and Yuuri, who are , as much as we love them, STILL FICTIONAL and will never be/can’t ever be affected by real world problems. So people saying things like “Please think of our OTP regarding this serious issue” is just insulting to people that have lost their loved ones and in fear of losing their own lives. 

Is it okay to like YOI??? Of course. Is it okay to support this real life issue?? Absolutely!!!! Is it okay to do both at the same time??? Yes, but ONLY when you can separate the two and know that one thing is actually damaging to real human beings.

The problem is though, and the point, is that it often is homophobia/queer phobia, like being fine with an ages old female being shipped with a seventeen year old then in the same breath condemning the queer ship as being too much of a gap. Twilight isn't seen as an age gap, you see, because he is "beyond age" (argument I've seen) and looks like a teen.

See maybe we’ve been seeing different antis, because all the anti shippers Iv seen around this hellhole are ALSO anti Twilight, it was I was trying to say. Like, they started on Twilight discourse (Or 50 Shades discourse or Phantom of the Opera discourse) and then brought that discourse to everything else in fandom. They are also, in the fandoms I run in, INCREDIBLY anti Rey/Kylo Ren which is an m/f pairing. But if there’s a subset of antis that are only anti age gap when it’s an m/m pairing and not when its an m/f pairing then yes, I agree, that’s incredibly homophic as a double standard. I think antis are terrible in general, to be clear here. Im not defending them at all

The good intentions are non existent when these people bully others into near suicide. 

  YES I very much agree, and which is why Im VERY much not in favour of antis at all, I think that their tactics are absurd and hurtful and needlessly vindicative. Its one thing to personally not like a pairing and its another thing entirely to bully other people to the point of suicide over a pairing you dont like.
