As the River Flows...

Waking through the park today and stopping to watch sunlight playing on the water. Then looking past to the stream bed below. It was with a sense of deepest serenity that I felt an identity with those pebbles and grains of grit. Here we are, embedded in the mud, alongside one another. Some larger, some harder, some sharper, some with sudden flashes of color. Most of us rounded, drab, mundane.

And over us all the years flow. Life flows; sometimes shallow and slow, sometimes deep and tumultuous. Shifting us around, knocking us round, allowing us to settle down. And the same clear stream flows over us all.

Still blossoming. I love that the trees all start to bloom at different times so that we get them pre-Christmas and then all through the early summer, too, carpeting the paths with crimson stamens.
