Honoured to be part of the #FeelingImages symposium where we will be discussing how the image can affect mental illness and wellbeing. How funny is life that the very woman who inspired the theoretical framework of my project #rosymartin is speaking at the event!!!! 2014 she spoke at @goldsmithsuol at a lecture, I cried at the end of it and decided to be vulnerable with my work. Gonna be a special day. Tickets only £10 but will sell out soon (the lineup is actually fantastic). Google to book tickets. Huge thanks to Shawn Sobers #photoresearchuwe #artactivism #art&mentalhealth #artherapy #femaleartists #photographyevents #photolondon #emergingartist #selfportraiture #creatives #photoconference #visualsociology
Going down a rabbit hole of breaking down my images and in some cases, adding motion. Inspired at SPE conference. Thank u to Jon Satrom for your story. #workingoutsidemyboundaries #somuchmoretocome #spemidwest #spe #photoconference (at Seelbach Hotel)
Photography changes everything!
The first day of the annual photo conference is over. This years theme is about working together across institutions and borders, whether they be imaginary or created by distance, language or milieus. Per Olav announced that the Artcouncil will be letting go of their hands-on responsibility of the photo scene in the ABM sector, but that he is not scared that we will disintegrate because we are well organized and work so good together. But do we? Really? In the day to day it does not feel like it, but maybe I am missing something, maybe others do, me on the other hand, I feel like I get this once-a-year infusion of socialness, people, info and knowledge, and then we all part again to sit and work on our own projects in our own little spaces. We had a very inspiring talk from Zippora Elders, one of the curators at FOAM in Amsterdam. They do so much of what we aspire to do at Cyan. Next time I am in the Netherlands I will have to go to Foam and have a look. http://www.foam.org/ Wilse is being celebrated this year, and from what we saw today, my favourite was the pictures of an electricity plant. Nearly no info, just pictures, but that was exactly what I needed after a long day at high speed, some meditative industrial quietness. Go have a look at the Tecnical museum. http://www.tekniskmuseum.no/
