Cooling tower demolition, Hull
Source
This short photographic series depicts the demolition of Sculcoates Power Station in Hull.
I found it whilst looking for pictures of the demolition of Bedford power station, but I couldn’t find any. In fact I found it difficult to find anything about the place at all, almost as if it had never existed. But it did exist - from 1953 to 1987, just north of where now lies Priory Country Park. I remember seeing it when I was 4 years old, walking along the new cut - a dark, looming, half-destroyed monolith of a thing, like a dying beast in the process of disappearing, it stuck in my mind’s eye like troubled sleep. But there are no pictures.
