On Saturday the 22/02/20 I went to a new venue called Magazine London. This was located in Canada Water. The event was called Sphere and I went to the second instalment of the raves. The focus on the event is the sound, space and production. This event is created for the exploration of the unparalleled sonic variety that falls between house and techno. The headliner of this event is non other than Maceo Plex. This man has been creating and spinning music for three decades now, his aim is to not stay predictable. He has gone to become one of dance music’s most recognised names with his signature blend of funk infused electronics. The second DJ Marcel Dettman is long term resident of Berghain (most famous club in the world) and has established himself as one of the most influential proponents of contemporary techno. The venue is one of the most brilliant views I’ve ever seen ever! The fact that you can see all of Canary Wharf all in one view amazes me.
The thing I love about this kind of techno is that its so futuristic. The melodic sounds just feels like it’s been injected into you and all you can feel is freedom and outerworldly!!!!!! Of course I booked this to have a good time but I am here like every event to take pictures as this is my absolute passion my gosh!!!! Carrying on with my phone project I took these and I am unconsciously proud of these and would say these are my favourite and best pictures yet.
This picture above me is my favourite out of the bunch. It clearly represents the whole rave experience in one photo. The fact that the subject in the foreground is blurred which depicts that his ego has left & his conscious has taken over his mind due to the drug intake. He observes his phone, as he participants with the crowd by filming the scene taking himself away from the rave & into technology. As you lead your eyes to the spotlight, a black figure is spotted in the distance behind the subject. This figure almost looks like a spirit of some kind. What if this suggests that his ego has been left but is still lurking in the background whilst his conscious has been released in his mind. Or what if the truth of demons in a rave are clearly true in this picture?
Ecstasy are the keys to unlock the doors to these desired states of consciousness. A deeply desired escape from the constraints of the self and normal behaviour.
The views of the rave is an explosive re-emergence of the repressed human drive to free consciousness from its unnatural ego-centred state.
