Art Blakey recorded his last and best drum ensemble album, The African Beat on January 24, 1962. The inclusion of Nigerian highlife drummer Solomon Ilori was a crucial element to its success. Winter snow storm smacks Northeast U.S.

A densely populated swath of the Northeast was hit with winter’s harshest thump yet, a fast-moving storm that could bring more than a foot of snow, strong winds and coastal flooding.
