she approached the girl with a cup of tea , books under her arm to sit down at the table with her. "here's some tea. you look like you need something to brighten your spirits." emerald hues gazed over her notes , catching a glimpse of something she recognized. "oh, yucca! a plant that can ease arthritis pain &. aid in -" she stopped herself before continuing "...but you probably don't want to hear me babble about plants."
ksenija was used to doing her work in solitude. even on the instances that she took it outside of the school library or her dorm few ever seemed to take notice of her or if they did simply didn’t have any desire to engage with her. and that was okay, it wasn’t like she had anything that most people would be interested in to talk about anyway and she was always such a nervous wreck when it came to dealing with people, it was for the best that she was just ignored and left unseen. she could focus on her work and that was all that really mattered.... though it was hard to deny that, sitting in the tiny shop with her books as her only companions while those around her sat with other people and engaged in conversation, she didn’t feel the slightest bit lonely. if only she knew how to actually deal with people, how to talk to them without freezing up or blabbering on about things no one but her actually cared out or felt better able to relate to what they were saying, if she could just be normal for a change-
she was pulled from the spiraling of her thoughts by the sound of a girl’s voice and it took a moment for her to register that it wasn’t directed at someone close by but at her specifically. and as was usually the case any words that she might have had died in her throat, unable to come out- but once the other began to seemingly doubt ksenija’s own interest the jackal shook her head fervently.
” n-no, not true at all ! i mean admittedly i don’t know much about plants and their different properties, this one just happened to be referenced in an old medical text i was working on translating and transcribing and it does seem to be heavily based in horticulture and homeopathic remedies which i guess isn’t surprising considering how old it is and how as a society we hadn’t become as scientifically or medically advanced yet- “
now she was the one rambling. typical.
” um pl-please, feel free to sit ! i’ll try and keep my rambling to a minimum, o-or just not talk at all. that would probably be less disruptive. “
