The Distance Issue:
The first issue I thought of while thinking up ideas for PHSE was the issue of how the sburb session splits up its characters right away. For a pathfinder session that would be immensely boring to the characters not being catered to by the GM at that moment.
The solution is to have all the characters enter at once in the same place. However that leads to many other issues which need addressing, mainly how the session itself would function in a scenario like that. It has been shown though that anyone in the house of someone entering the session is brought with them (Dad, Mom, and Bro being examples) so technically that's not an issue.
So the next issue is sprites. In our session we have 4 players (3 PC's and the GM's character who is the PC's server character (more on that later)) so normally we would need 4 sprites. However if 4 sprites were to be prototyped at once it would cause the underlings to change rapidly which would cause them to become powerful too quickly and also rob us of the ability to add these changes over time to keep the underlings interesting. My current solution to this is that the session has changed to accommodate this and has created a 'warped session' which changes things a bit, the goal of this session is not only to [SPOILERS] create a universe [END SPOILERS] but for the players to progress through the planets together and find the location of their houses which will contain their sprite (I'm assuming the session changed to allow prototyping that affects the imps and Skaia in session). Their houses of course will be atop some sort of dungeon or challenge to spice things up a bit and perhaps have a gate in them that leads to the denizens area.
One small thing that needed to be thought of is who the entry scenario is directed at if they are all in the house at the same time... I figure that the owner of the house should be the one that does the alchemizing and prototyping to prevent their house from being meteord.
Now the issue of a server player was solved quickly to me, why not make the GM the server player? That gives the GM some physical control over the direction of the early story and prevents some of the... misshaps... that could happen if the server computer was in the client house. Also this allows the GM to personally participate a bit without him being in a position to influence characters decisions much. An additional flavor thing I'm going to do is to make the only way to communicate with the GMs character is to use a laptop to type to him through pesterchum and he can only respond in the same way.
If you're reading this wow thanks for reading all that! I'm not much of a writer so sorry if it was a pain to read v,.,v... anyhow if you have any ideas or questions feel free to send them through the ask box ^,.,^
