The Portal Holiday Spirit Initiative!

To try and lift people’s spirits up this year, I will be making and sending out FREE Portal-Themed Holiday Cards to anyone who asks for one! The cards are customized to match any December Holiday of your choice and mailed to you physically or emailed digitally!

This will be the fourth consecutive year I have run PHSI, and features the return of the nifty Postcards from last year! But don't worry: All physical cards will be mailed in themed envelopes this year, so your postcards should arrive in much better condition! :)

These postcards are are also special and unique, because they feature new artwork made by eight different artists from the fandom, specifically for this event! The design of the postcard you receive will be based on what you select in your Card Request. I can’t express the amount of thanks these artists deserve for volunteering their time and talents to make PHSI 2022 special!

Wait for your card to be made and sent!

It’s that simple! Card Requests are now open, and close on December 20th in order to give me enough time to make and send all the cards before the end of the year. Please submit sooner rather than later so I have time to finish them all!

Also, please don’t be afraid to request a physical card if you don’t live in the US! It might take a bit longer for you to receive your card depending on what country you live in, but they do get mailed to whatever address you provide, whether domestic or foreign. Last year I mailed/emailed a total of 141 cards to Italy, Australia, Canada, Colombia, The Czech Republic, Germany, England, Finland, France, Mexico, New Zealand, Poland, Romania, Russia, The US, The United Kingdom, and Vietnam!

I’m glad to be a part of the Portal Fandom and hope to bring a smile to others in the Fandom this year! Answers for common questions and concerns under the cut:

Worried about providing a mailing address, for whatever reason?

PHSI has an eCard option! All you need to provide is a name for me to call you by and an email address to receive your card!

Worried about requesting a card because you don’t live in the US?

PHSI mails to any address provided, whether domestic or foreign! However, please wait patiently for your card, due to the current global rate of shipping.

Worried that you can’t give $2 to cover the cost of your card and someone else’s?

Requesting a card from PHSI has been and will always be FREE! However, giving $2 to the initiative helps me buy card supplies and postage to mail physical cards (visit ko-fi.com/247testing if you’d like to contribute). I gratefully appreciate any contributions received, even if it’s just a comment saying thanks!

Worried because you don’t know how to support the artist of the card you received?

Each artist's social media are listed on the back of every card featuring their artwork. Look them up, commission them, reblog their art, and support them however you can!

Worried because you haven’t received your card yet?

Double check your email inbox and junk folders. I send everyone an email that either confirms your Holiday Card has shipped or includes your eCard! If your physical card fails to show up after the first of January, please reach out to me and I’ll send you a replacement eCard!

Worried because you received your card and don’t know what to do now?

Make a post about it! Include pictures, videos, or anything you’d like, and tag me in the post (@24-7-testing) so I can reblog it! If you don’t want to show your card off, that’s ok too!

For this year's holiday season, I helped @24-7-testing with the Portal Holiday Spirit Initiative with art for two of the cards! This has been a project that has been ongoing for a few years now, and it was such a joy getting to participate and help make the art. I hope everyone enjoys their card if they requested one, and thank you again to 24-7-testing for putting these together all these years!

Calling Artists In The Portal Fandom!

Hey everyone!

For those of you who don’t know, since 2019 I have been making and sending out FREE Portal-Themed Holiday Cards each year to anyone who wants one between Nov. 20th and Dec. 20th! Last year I mailed/emailed a total of 141 cards to Italy, Australia, Canada, Colombia, The Czech Republic, Germany, England, Finland, France, Mexico, New Zealand, Poland, Romania, Russia, The US, The United Kingdom, and Vietnam!

Once again, I’m pleased to announce that the Portal Holiday Spirit Initiative will be returning for 2022! Also, since the inclusion of artists from the Portal fandom was so well received last year, I've decided to open up that option again this year!

I'm currently looking for 8 Portal artists who want to contribute artwork to be featured on the front of a Portal Holiday Postcard!

The artwork will need to be horizontal, 4 inches tall x 6 inches wide, themed around characters from Portal or Portal 2, and will be holiday-neutral (think Winter scenes, but not holiday-specific scenes). Colorful and finished artwork is preferred (as opposed to line art and sketches). Artwork also needs to be finished by November 20th, which is the day card requests open to the entire fandom. You're seeing this post in October to allow time for the artwork to be made. :)

Because PHSI is run out of the goodness of my heart to try and lift people’s spirits up at the end of the year, there is no monetary compensation for contributing the artwork, only the warm feelings you get from doing something for others and the knowledge that your artwork has travelled the world to reach people.

Artist slots and character assignments are limited and first-come-first-served, so if you think you're able to contribute artwork for this fun fandom tradition please DM me as soon as possible!

Tis the season for a PHSI Card from @24-7-testing ! I've gotten a Portal holiday card every year since you started this project, and it's always made the season a bit brighter. Thank you for doing this project!!

Wrapping Up PHSI 2022!

Well, another PHSI has come and gone. Here's the last few details to share with everyone as the project comes to a close this year:

The Third Batch of Postcards Have Been Mailed/Emailed! I sent everyone in the third batch an email today that either confirmed your Holiday Card has shipped or included your eCard, so double check your inbox and junk folders if you didn’t see anything come through.

This year, I mailed/emailed a total of 167 cards to Brazil, Canada, England/The UK, Germany, India, Italy, Poland, Slovenia, and The US! That's 26 more cards than last year!

Your donations covered 101% of the cost of sending cards this year! Thank you very much to everyone who contributed. We ended this year with an extra $0.63! I'll save it and roll it over into next year's funds.

A BIG THANKS to @perpetualvelocity, @enrichment--center, @the-dangerous-mute-lunatic, @lesbiansforglados, @purrtal2, @floating-goblin-art, and @zappycubefriend for contributing artwork for the postcards this year! Everyone really enjoyed receiving your artwork, and I hope you had a fun time helping with PHSI!

A note about next year's PHSI: I've been looking into ways I can streamline the process of sending everyone cards. Although I enjoy it, printing, cutting, assembling, labeling, stamping, and mailing 100+ cards in the span of 4 weeks is a lot of work! Plus, I've got other things moving into my life that will be taking more of my time, so I will be reworking PHSI next year to be more streamlined and less labor-intensive for everyone. More details will be announced next October/November. :)

Artist Slots Still Available!

I've had a few people message with interest in helping with PHSI this year and a few of the artists from last year are also planning on helping out too, but there are still slots available for new artists!

If you're willing to create a piece of Portal fanart to go on the front of a Holiday Card (that will travel the world to Portal fans everywhere!), please send me a DM! For more information on what PHSI is or what it needs from artists this year, please check this post or feel free to DM me! :)

Thanks everyone for a fantastic 4th year of PHSI! It was very fun sending you all cards again. I really hope those who requested them enjoyed the cards they received. If you missed out on requesting one, fear not! All the card designs from this year will eventually be posted on this page of my website, joining all the designs from previous years as well!

Once I get the remaining cards mailed/emailed I'll post the usual update about how the Initiative went this year, as well as fill you in on some changes relating to next year's PHSI!
