I would like to know what exactly you were thinking. Ectoplasm is at best a mild nuisance and at worst a highly corrosive or harmful substance. Egon hesitated again. “I was thinking… but my apartment is in no state to receive visitors, unless you don’t mind sitting on desk chairs among two dozen and a half projects, or in the smallest apartment kitchen in New York…”

He usually didn’t invite people into his home, even close friends, and this had been the case even when living with roommates. He prefered spending time with people on neutral ground. Especially since he had sensitive equipment in his living room.

“We can go back to my place,” Ray offered with a gentle smile. “It’s a little messy, but there’s plenty of room. Though either one I think would be better than going back to the firehouse. It...it means a lot to me that you’d invite me over though, Egon. I know how important your privacy is to you.” 

“I’ve got coffee there and I think some hot chocolate, if you’d like it.” He said, blushing a little. “We can go there after dinner and just be together for a while.”

"What do you make of that, Egon?" Peter pointed him toward a smear of ectoplasm on the doorway of the old bar. He flung his hand to rid it of excess goop. It was pretty clear how Venkman had discovered it. 

"This has got to be the third time we've been called in with no sign of a ghost. Well, other than mucus."
