I think he asks the inquisitor if he could’ve saved Cole, and you tell him there was nothing he could’ve done.. so instead of feeling sad and tormented about it, he chose to forget so he could move on.

He asks if he could have saved the real Cole and then he just stands there and makes himself forget because it’s sad and he doesn’t need it. I sort of realized that none of our adventures together could have any meaning. In the end, he’ll mind wipe.
Wow that is definitely something to consider. Thank you for pointing it out. I think Ellinara would be okay with this though. So much bad happens to people, and to her, that she would be okay with Cole being pure and removed from it. Not to mention she's a mage that isn't afraid of spirits and is deeply connected to all things spiritual.
God this is conflicting because at the same time see reasons for picking human earlier, so she'd also want him to not forget and wipe himself, but move forward and grow. So I'm just going to play the cutscene post-choice and see how I feel.
(Which is so different from how I personally would do it like human 10/10.)
