                    he hadn’t expected to find the grey-haired bitch away from the group, wandering alone. she had seemed like she was one of the people who kept them all together. she had laid down the law for him well enough. he was half-tempted to walk away, and leave her ass to rot. but he was too curious to know why the hell she was out here. she had seemed close with his baby brother, and anyone who could do that was worth his interest.

                    he approached her without caution, traipsing through the forest, leaves crunching loudly beneath his feet, and forewarning his approach. brace propped against his hip he stopped a few feet from her.

She lets out a small huff of air, tapping the pencil against her paper. She hates homework, but she knows she has to do it if she ever wants to accomplish things like her sister. Carol was in college now, and Charlotte wanted to one day follow in her footsteps. Maybe not the same profession, but something smart. But social studies was never her strong suit.

When the door bursts open, the pre-teen looks up, eyes wide as her sister plops onto the bed. “Carol? What’s up? You look like you just ran a marathon.”
