Blog #89: Hamilton Tiger-Cats Versus Edmonton Eskimos Match Preview

On Saturday, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats will take on the Edmonton Eskimos as they search for their first win of the young season. After a week of disappointment, starting quarterback Kevin Glenn will be looking to kick-start the stagnant offence that struggled against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. While the defence played an all around solid game, the offence must be able to prove themselves this week when the pressure is on. Despite all of the uncertainties, confidence is not one of them for Kevin Glenn. After practice on Thursday, Glenn said that “I’ve been in this league 11 years. If I wasn’t proven, or I didn’t have confidence in myself to go out and play well, I don’t think I would have lasted 11 years in this sport.”

Blog #88: Assessing the Hamilton Tiger-Cats New Players

After game one of the CFL season, we are able to begin to analyze whether the Hamilton Tiger-Cats free agent signings and draft picks are booms or busts. After training camp, only two of the off season signings made the final cut, Kyle Jones and Kevin Scott, while Maurice Forbes was the lone rookie to start with the Ti-Cats.

While none of these new players rose to the top in the first week, all three had a decent game. Even though Forbes was left without any tackles, both Scott and Jones managed one special teams tackle. Make sure to check back next week as we continue to follow these new additions to the Ti-Cats active roster!

Blog #62: Hamilton Tiger-Cats Sign One, Release Seven Players

As the Hamilton Tiger-Cats prepare for opening day on July 1st, they are starting to make the final cuts and additions to their roster. Over the previous day, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced that they signed one player and released seven players.

Kevin Scott, a 6-3, 232-pound player, was signed yesterday by the Tiger-Cats. Scott is a Queens University alumnus who signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2008. After playing four games with them in 2009, he was released in 2010.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced that the following players have been released: import kicker/punter Greg Gundersen, non-import wide receiver Blaine Kruger, non-import line backer Joseph Malabuyoc, non-import wide receiver Brenden Ownes, import wide receiver James Swinton, import running back Conte Cuttino, and long snapper Jordan Matechuk. Matechuk was released due to legal issues, after being caught at the border with possession of steroids.
