The concept of “hearing heavenly bodies”…✨
(A drabble below that this picrew made me think up! :3)
“W-What was that?” Aarushi suddenly hissed, freezing on the spot, eyes skyward.
“What was what, kitten?” Sebastian asked, freezing too as he waited for an answer.
Both were as still as statues for a couple minutes longer, the younger only letting their sharp red eyes dart around to see if they could find the source.
But there was nothing, no animal nor other living creature to answer their question.
“Kitten..?” Sebastian asked once more, finally cautiously taking a step closer to them.
“It… sounds like… music?” Aarushi finished in a questioning tone, still unsure about what it even was they were suddenly hearing out in the vast, open glittering night sky.
“Music?” Sebastian echoed, and then realization began to hit and his eyebrows nearly flew off. “What kind of music does it sound like, love?”
“I… I don’t know, I dunno if I remember hearing anything like..” But they trailed off as a memory flashed in their mind.
A New Years Party they’d had, and Mamma entertaining by running fingers gracefully over a couple dozen wine glass rims.
The sound it had created was…
“Heavenly.” Aarushi whispered, and slowly sunk back down into the grass, still staring up at the stars, but now with tears beginning to creep out of their eyes.
“Oh, my sweet kitten.” Sebastian murmured, and - still being careful - stepped over to them and sat right down next to them.
It was very rare for demonic beings to share a moment of enjoying such an otherworldly, unreachable sound.
But that’s exactly what happened that night, as the Earth turned and the stars blinked away in the sky, like they had for centuries.
