Pictures of Silver - Paper Lanterns
Pictures of Silver is a worship rock band from Russellville Arkansas that has been garnering quite a following through out the state. Paper Lanterns in the bands second release and a marked improvement over their freshman release. The songs a tighter, the production more polished, the mix smoother, you can tell they have learned much over the past year of play live. The lead singer sounds more comfortable and confident providing more passion and honesty to come through. Most of the improvements come from the band having a year together under their belt and gelling as a band.
The album consists of 6 originals and 5 covers. The covers are solid with several having a nice spin put on them, but the originals shine more on this album bringing a different worship experience to the listener than what is heard in many churches. It is good to hear a worship band not completely emulate the current sound of worship music so popular in churches today and try to set themselves apart.
For those who have enjoyed the bands first album, they will not be disappointed with the this album one bit. New comers will enjoy the energy and quality brought on this album. My only complaint about the album is they chose to cover 10,000 reasons a song I love, love, love and is done well here but has been over covered in the past year.
