i think my favourite thing about undertale and deltarune characters taken as a whole is that you can genuinely feel the care and attention and love that these characters were created/written with. it’s so clear to me from everything toby fox puts out that he just loves all these little characters so much and it comes through in the games and lore and all the little extras. it really gives them all this special spark that i can’t always say i feel from other media. maybe it sounds silly but i’m honestly so grateful that, especially as of recently, he can share these characters with us and share his love for them with us in such an incredible and unique and immersive way.

i miss her so much it’s unreal

i love queen not just because she’s hysterically funny, but also because she has these odd brushes with genuine compassion that are just,, very interesting for a character type like hers. i think a lot about that line she has, where she explains that she’s going along with the knight’s fountain scheme because ultimately she wants her people, and everyone, to be happy.. she was fully willing to act and be seen as an evil villain and make as many fountains as she wanted if it meant she could bring prosperity back to the dark world. but what underpins that goal, and what she specifically says, is that she just wants to make people happy. you can even see this desire take shape in the way she imprisoned kris and the others among things queen misguidedly thought they would like based on her limited frame of reference.. and perhaps even a limited understanding of what happiness even is. she’s a computer, after all. maybe she doesn’t quite get it as much as she thinks she does. but ultimately, in a very interesting way, wanting to make people happy is kind of a queen thesis statement. under all the memes she is a genuinely fascinating character in her own right and i love her so much.
