Process
After studying each artist I found similarities and differences between each artist.
Similarities:
All of them tells a story in a way, this is more specific to both Pienkowski’s and Baudelaire’s works.
All three artists uses silhouettes and/or shadows in portraying their works.
Noble and Webster’s works uses Shadows, which applies to Baudelair’s works as well by creating Shadow Puppets.
Both Pienkowski and Baudelair uses papercutting in their works and usually tells a story (fictional stories).
Differences:
Pienkowski and Baudelair uses paper, while Noble and Webster makes sculptures for their works.
Pienkowski illustrates books, Baudelair makes puppets.
Pienkowski and Baudelair tells mostly fictional stories. While Noble and Webster tells us stories that reflect on their (daily) lives.
Pienkowski uses various kinds of backgrounds, and Baudelair on the other hand leaves the background plain (usually white.)
And for this, I started my experiments on each of the artists’ techniques. (Which will be on my next post.)
